Also, and, please be careful in the washes south of town this evening.  This thing poses a real flash flooding risk.
https://www.nhc.noaa.gov/storm_graphics/AT11/refresh/AL1119WPCQPF+gif/203424WPCQPF_sm.gif

Dodged a bullet here.  It's moving slow but not as slow as Harvey.  There was a surprisingly similar environment in place.  If the storm formed 100mi south of its current location, it likely would have gone through a rapid intensification phase, similar to Harvey and would have also created a steering environment that would have made it even slower than it's current 6mph movement.

I wish it would rain in Central Texas.  You swampers feel free to send it all this way.

I wonder how many here are too young to get that reference?

Well considering you were there to hear first hand accounts of Magellan discovering the Philippines I'm not surprised you got it.

You should have told him about the Panama Canal.

Thanks jbm.

I live in Mauriceville. North of Orange. I have no idea how much rain we've had but the flooding is nearly as bad as Harvey. My house is dry but lots of friends and family in the area are flooded...again. My kids school flooded...again.

Right now the rain is slowing and the water receding. Just need a little more time before any more heavy bands hit.

Heard from my cousin in Beaumont (not sure which part) this morning.  Their house is flooded, worse than they got with Harvey.

Yeah, BMT seems to be worse than Harvey. My father n law in BMT is inches from flooding, which is higher than Harvey. My companies office in downtown BMT I was told is flooded. It didn't flood in Harvey. No one around here was expecting this. Rain, yes, but not this much.

Im stuck in Philadelphia.   Flight got cancelled this morning.   The PHL airport hotel scene is really terrible.   Could be worse, my buddy got to IAH at 5AM this morning, he is still there.   Flights kept getting bumped and they had no way to leave as IAH was flooded and no ubers or Metro were picking people up.
There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.

I’m at the Kuwait airport, headed home. Coworker left yesterday and got rerouted to DFW. Hopefully I get in tomorrow...today...whatever it is...22 hours from now.

They’ve had hours and hours of draining and drying time. If it’s a problem this afternoon, it’s not a weather problem, it’s a facilities mismanagement problem.

Everything seems to be operating fine. Much of the city is taking the day to lick its wounds (schools closed, etc), but the infrastructure is all functioning.

Was shocked when we got bavk to Austin and saw  the flooding and devastation...

Well I made it as far as Dubai (not due to flooding). I guess there are worse places to be stuck. Hopefully home tomorrow.

Don’t tease me. I was really looking for an excuse to buy one.

I saw it driving to the hotel, but can’t see it from here. Maybe in the morning.
