Angels at Astros- August 25, 2019
« on: August 25, 2019, 01:27:16 pm »
Astros with 2 on,  no outs in the bottom of the 1st.

Bregman flies out just shy of the track in center,  both runners advance.

Las Piña pops out to Fletcher in foul territory; nice running catch with his back to the plate made just as the ball got to the stands.

1-0 Astros after 1

I'm almost to the point where Simmons scares me more than Trout. Almost.

Tantalizing at times last season/ this season.

Realistically 5-6 innings,  3-4 runs is what they need from him today.

How were Framber's walk #'s after he went back to RR?

I think they were about the same. The night I saw him, I think he had something like 6 walks and 9 strikeouts in 5+ innings, or something confounding like that.

Reddick made an out somehow.
Altuve struck out on a full count.
Brantley walked on four pitches (I think).
Bregman popped up to 3rd.

I'm getting tired of the pop-ups to 3rd. That's at least 3 so far.

Simmons grounds out 5-3. Good battle between Framber and Simmons that AB.
Goodwin strikes out on a nasty curve.
Smith grounds out 4-3.

All of a sudden Framber looks sharp. What a perplexing guy.

Still tied 1-1 in the middle of the 4th.

Yordan walks.
Yuli lines a ball into the RF corner, Yordan goes to 3rd, and Yuli is thrown out at 2nd trying to stretch it into a double. Pretty good play by Goodwin in RF to get it in quickly and get him.
Toro grounds out to a drawn-in 2nd baseman and can't get Yordan home.
Reddick lines a single up the middle and drives in Yordan!
Maldonado strikes out to end the inning.

Astros lead 2-1 after 4 innings.

Rengifo strikes out on three straight pitches, the last one a nice curve that broke in and under his swing.
Fletcher retired swinging at a curve in the dirt.
Trout somehow lays off the curves that got the other guys and walks. Those were really good pitches by Framber, but Trout wouldn't bite.
Ohtani grounds out 4-3. Still not using the helmet glue: his helmet flies off in the first two or three strides out of the box.

Astros lead 2-1 in the middle of the 5th inning.

Marisnick taps out 3-1. Barria did a good job of getting over to 1st before Jake got there.
Altuve flies out to RF.
Brantley grounds out to a shifted SS 6-3.

Astros lead 2-1 after 5 innings.

Lousiana leads Curacao 1-0 after 2 innings in the LLWS.

Framber still in the for the 6th.

Upton strikes out on a curve.
Pujols grounds out 5-3.
Simmons walks. Framber couldn't quite get Simmons to chase fastballs on the outside corner.
Goodwin strikes out on a curve.

Astros lead 2-1 in the middle of the 6th.

That's 94-95 pitches for Framber, so I imagine he's done. But he settled down and did a nice job.

Barria still in for the 6th, but there's action in the Angels' pen.

Bregman strkes out after starting out 3-0.

Barria out, lefty Del Pozo in to relieve.

Alvarez taps in front of the plate and is thrown out 2-3.
Yuli flies out to CF.

Astros lead 2-1 after 6 innings.

Louisiana leads Curacao 2-0 after 3 innings.

Rondon on to pitch the 7th.

Smith lines out to Reddick in RF, who looks like he may have had an issue with the lights.
Rengifo grounds in the shift 6-3.
Fletcher grounds out 5-3. Nice throw by Toro.

Nice job by Rondon. Astros lead 2-1 in the middle of the 7th. Time for some more runs.

Nice arm on Toro too.

That throw was nice to see. All of his previous throws have been kind of hump-backs, but I guess he just throws it as hard as needs to.

Del Pozo still in for the 7th.

Toro walks.
Reddick with a sac bunt to Toro to 2nd. Pretty good effort because it looked like Del Pozo was trying to kill him.

Del Pozo out, right-hander Buttrey in.

Maldonado greets him with a 2-run homer on a hanging fastball! Chirinos shakes his head.
Marisnick strikes out swinging.
Altuve lines out to 2nd.

Astros lead 4-1 after 7 innings.

Smith in to pitch the 8th.

Trout singles past Altuve.
Ohtani grounds into a fielder's choice 4-6, Trout out at 2nd.
Upton grounds into a 5-4-3 DP.

Astros lead 4-1 in the middle of the 8th.

Louisiana leads Curacao 5-0 in the top of the 5th.

Cole (different one) in to pitch the 8th.

Brantley singles into LCF to extend his hitting streak to 18. Straw pinch-runs for Brantley.
Bregman doubles down the LF line to score Straw. The left fielder bobbled the ball, but it probably didn't matter with Straw's speed.
Alvarez walked on 4 pitches.
Yuli lines into CF, Trout comes in and almost makes the shoestring catch but drops it, and Alvarez hustles into 2nd base  to avoid being doubled off. Bases are loaded. Alvarez got hit on the right elbow by Trout's throw.
Toro with a line drive single into RF to drive in Bregman for his first ML RBI.
Reddick up, Cole throws a wild pitch and Yordan races home. Reddick doubles down the RF line and drives in Yuli and Toro.
Maldonado grounds out 5-3, Reddick stays at 2nd.
Marisnick strikes out.
Altuve homers to LF, Reddick scores.
Straw, who probably didn't think he would get an AB today, walks on 4 pitches.
Bregman flies out to RF.

Astros lead 11-1 after 8 innings.

Devo in to pitch the 9th.

Pujols flies out to LF.
Simmons pops out to Toro in foul territory.
Goodwin yanks a ball into the upper tank.
Smith flies out to Marisnick in LCF.

Astros win 11-2. Nice way to go into the day off.

10-7 on the 17 game stretch.

Much needed day off tmw.

Great job by Framber to get on track.

Cole’s scratch caused havoc

10-7, missed start from Cole,  Diaz/Correa to the IL, 2 Verlander gems wasted,  lost 3 of 4 to the 2nd place team . . .

Yet they emerge with a 9.5 game lead.

Stretch run coming up.

Yes.  Forgot to include Pressly having surgery and the bullpen getting stretched thinner than something that's really thin (I'm tired).
