T1:

Springer singles up the middle
Altuve lines out to RF on the first pitch
Wild pickoff attempt at 1B, Springer goes all the way to 3B
Bregman flies out F9, Springer scores on the sac fly
Brantley grounds out 6-3

1-0 Astros
The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

B1:

Blackmon grounds out 3U
Story strikes out swinging, Urquidy's first in the big leagues
Dahl chops a little bouncer to 3B...no one there, by the time Bregman runs it down behind 3B, Dah is on  2B for a shiftfuck infield double
Arrenado...3-0...3-1...3-2...doubles off the RCF wall, Dahl scores
Wild pitch, Arrenado to 3B
Murphy grounds out 3U

1-1 after 1

I really wanted to see the changeup on that 3-2 pitch to Arenado.

Tough luck for Chirinos.

Ball 4 found his bat then the whiffs on a nasty low FB.

T2:

Gurriel homers to LCF
Reddick...0-2...1-2...2-2...strikes out looking
Chirinos strikes out swinging
Straw with a bloop singles to RF
Urquidy, in his first at bat...like ever...but first Straw goes to 2B on a passed ball...taps back to the mound

2-1 Astros

Urquidy may want to rethink his 'fall behind then catch a lot of plate' strategy.

My contribution to the Twitter Tuesday "weird game" category is Jim Clancy's great start on 8/3/89 in Cincinnati, where the Astros surrendered 14 runs in the 1st inning. Maybe not "weird" per se, but it was memorable. Clancy faced 7 batters, gave up 6 hits and a walk, and was charged with 7 earned runs. Then Bob Forsch came in and gave up 10 more over the course of 7 innings.

B2:

Desmond singles to LF
McMahon...3-0...3-1...3-2...jam shot looper just over SS, a single to LF, Desmond to 2B and nobody is covering 3B on the shift, so Desmond moves to 3B
Wild pitch, Desmond scores, McMahon to 2B
Wolters...3-2...strikes out looking
Marquez...who's been more productive than Tyler White...grounds out 4-3...McMahon to 3B
Blackmon walks
Story...0-2...strikes out swinging

Tied again 2-2 after 2

If we're 8-8 at midnight...

Bit of a mixed bag from Urquidy, but I'll take it.

Interesting mix of pitches.

And that's a tough lineup/stadium to make your debut.

Yuli got down the  line well.

James walks in a run...bases still loaded...

James is so infuriating to watch sometimes. He's just fucking slinging everything.

Seems like if you need 3 outs from him,  he'll give you 2.

Might have taken his eye off of it to peak at the runner at 1B.  No error charged, but that's a play that he normally makes.

8-5, bases still loaded, still nobody out.

Altuve and Bregman gave them that one. Altuve should burn this glove and get a new one.

Plus the bad throw home which gave up another one, and the fumble on the potential DP ball.

McMahon hits a bloop that drops into shallow right.

Hansen runs for him.

Wolters digs in.

Wolters grounds the first pitch to Altuve,  out 4-3.

Astros win 9-8.

Helluva win.

Kudos to Harris, Devo, Pressly, and Osuna.

Offensively,  Piña Power.

Yep. Great relief work after James.
Often wrong, but never in doubt.
