« on: July 01, 2019, 10:40:15 am »
He will start game one in Colorado.

The corresponding 40 man roster move will not be announced until tomorrow.

Did they need to make a move on the 40 man roster?

ETA.  Never mind, I should read deeper than the title.

He has been good in RR.

Great seeing the rookies play, whether possible future Astros or trade bait.

I think I would rather see them in RR. The injuries are awful.

Seeing one or two at a time would be okay but not four or five.

I wonder whey not Cy Sneed?  He was serviceable in his lone appearance.
Another trenchant comment by a jealous lesser intellect.

Corbin Martin to the 60-day IL? It's either that or a dfa and I don't think they are going to dfa White just yet. The other dfa option is AJ Reed.

Deetz is another DFA option.

Martin to 60 day would make sense.

I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing AstroTurf and the designated hitter. I believe in the sweet spot, soft-core pornography, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve and I believe in long, slow, deep, torture of Bud Selig.

I doubt they worry too much about losing Reed.  It would be useful for him

I agree but dfa is the card you hold onto until you have no other cards to play. We are approaching that point but I don't think they are there just yet

Agreed.  This is not a rebuilding team, they are in the middle of their run.  They need to need to be playing the established players, not taking flyers on kids.  It's no longer 2013.
The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

True.
But injuries happen, and this year they have been coming in bunches.  They preview the depth of the farm system.
It has been fun seeing the other rookies celebrate Jordan's success with him!  Who knows who will be the next to stick.
Not all of us can see prospects in RR games, so the call ups - and ST games - are the only preview.
Nothing worthwhile comes without pain, ask any Astros fan.

I feel like there's a decent chance he goes unclaimed and ends up back in Round Rock.  Unless they feel that Beer is ready, someone still has to play 1B there.

I don't think I've ever been more wrong about a prospect that I was about Reed.  Maybe Jason Hirsch

You could be right, but MLB Trade Rumors seems to think that he had a promising enough pedigree that at least one of the 29 others teams will claim him if the Astros don’t work some sort of trade.

Yeah, I’d be surprised if he went unclaimed. I’d also be surprised if he chose to stay if he wasn’t claimed.  A change of orgs is probably in his best interest.

I guess we’ll see if anyone still wants to see what he can do on the mound.
