Joke of a contest in London
« on: June 29, 2019, 03:08:00 pm »
If Manfred was hoping to showcase actual baseball in London, he has failed. At the moment, the score is 15-6 in the top of 5th, and the Yankees have the bases loaded. There have been at least 11 pitchers so far. The starters lasted 1.0 innings, combined. There have been errors, wild pitches, passed balls, pulled hamstrings, lousy throws. Center field is a daunting 385 feet away. Fox is reduced to talking about those fucking 2' long Boomstick heart attack hot dogs. Well done.

I wonder if they're letting them carry extended pitching staffs for this little escapade. If not, tomorrow's game could take eight hours and result in about 40 runs. Shit, today's game may reach 40.

Oh good, there's two more. It's now 17-6 Yankees, 2 outs in the bottom of the 5th.
I remember all the good times me 'n Miller enjoyed
Up and down the M1 in some luminous yo-yo toy
But the future has to change - and to change I've got to destroy
Oh look out Lennon here I come - land ahoy-hoy-hoy

How does the field look?
Everyone's talking, few of them know
The rest are pretending, they put on a show
And if there's a message I guess this is it
Truth isn't easy, the easy part's shit

Field looks good. Except that, you know, it's only slightly larger than a Little League park.

Ha, 17-13 in the bottom of the 7th. It’s like mediocre little league.
Another trenchant comment by a jealous lesser intellect.

It actually sounds like a game non-baseball fans may  really enjoy.

34 hits and 30 runs through 7 innings. I'm sure that a lot of cricket fans have been converted by the finesse and strategy of the game.
