Holbrook is squeezing the shit out of Verlander so far.

3 pitches in the zone called balls already, one of which should've Ked Gallo.

JV not getting the low strike in the 1st.  F7 shallow, F4, BB, 5-3.  Throws 23 pitches in the 1st.

Crap.  Tuves chops one to 3B and beats it out, but was running the last 30 feet with his back straight up and chopping his steps.   Takes himself out of the game after a couple of pitches.

Hopefully something minor, and the time off will do him some good.

What a shitburger of an inning.

3-1 for Bregman and gets a pitch to hammer and weakly pops out to the little pube-bearded fuckwad at 2nd. And should've been a double play but Odor throws it away.

The Brantley weakly pops out as well.

Lance Lynn looks like he ate 3 helpings of 2014 Lance Lynn.

Right?  Did Lynn always throw this hard?  He's hit 96-97 a couple of times.

How did he look walking off the field?  Wincing or just irritated?

Mostly irritated. He looked like he was trying to stretch his hammy/quad before he came out.

I didn't see, had to run into the kitchen.  The way he was running it didn't look like a leg issue, back maybe?  Not a doctor, but I've been to too many.

Holy fuck. Correa just made one of the best plays I've ever seen. Dove deep in the hole toward left field on a fucking rocket grounder, popped up, and nipped Guzman by 1/4 of a step at first.

WOW!

You can always quibble about the "best" fielder at most any position, but if anyone is playing a better SS than Correa so far this year I'd like to know who, and then watch the tape of all his plays.  Guy has been amazing this year.

Remember how we always used the word “relentless” about the 2017 offense?

Tonight’s runs come from solo shots by the 7, 8, and 9 hitters.

36 straight scoreless appearances (35 IP) for Pressly.

Last guy to do 35 scoreless was Kimbrel for the Braves in '11, per TK

Choo clearly is being mentored by baserunning expert Beaker Hunter Pence.

Man, Chirinos has been great. Eat your heart out, Machete.
+1

And his child-like giddiness after he hits a homer is refreshing. He’s having a great time as a member of this team.

I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing AstroTurf and the designated hitter. I believe in the sweet spot, soft-core pornography, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve and I believe in long, slow, deep, torture of Bud Selig.

I recall that Altuve had recommended Chirinos to Luhnow. Described him as a high-character guy.

By the accounts I read, he has worked very hard to improve his catching and has been receptive to the information and instruction from the Astros’ staff.
Often wrong, but never in doubt.
