Good Ole JR (not Richards)
« on: March 23, 2019, 11:41:38 am »
This place is interesting. As an out of towner I was thrilled to find a really smart Astros baseball community.
Until I had the unfortunate pleasure of dealing with good ole Jim R - the proverbial internet tough guy.

JR decides who has the right to speak her. He demands credentials. He needs posts to be appropriately worded.
He doesn't need anyone else to contribute. He is MR CONTRIBUTOR.

I had this crazy ass notion that being the fan of the same team made it OK for 'outsiders' to post here.

But no, good ole JR just wants to play a colossal game of dick out deciding who gets to talk Astros baseball and who doesn't.

So when I mention at 10pm at night that I saw Verlander was in final stages of contract negotiation, and I look at the headlines and don't see it
mentioned, I figured what the hell, no one could possibly find fault with me sharing that insight.

Wrong.

Good ole JR decided that he had to attack even that innocuous post. Personally.

You guys have a helluva website. And I know you are a tight knit community, so leaving this here isn't going to make any friends.

But it truly sucks that one tired, bitter old man can spew his shit with immunity.

Good Ole JR, kiss my internet loving As-tros. goodnight.

This is not the way to handle things, especially given that you're not totally unfamiliar with how this place operates.

Read More Post Less is an axiom for new posters for a reason, no matter how innocent your mistake was.
You may ask yourself, "How do I work this?"

Sounds like you need a mental health day. Poor thing. I’ll give my being old to you, or at least some think I am, but I am neither tired nor bitter. “Read More, Post Less” has been the mantra around here forever, and I did not originate it. There was a semi-long discussion going on in the payroll thread if you had bothered to read anything before you rushed in with your scoop. Usually duplicative posts such as your are met with “Yeah, Cabrera told us.” Why do they say that, you may ask. It takes time to learn this place and how we operate. You are correct; we are a tight knit community of friends who have been here for many years.

You can play by the TZ’s rules and become a regular poster or you can be a troll and depart in a huff. Your call.

PS Please note I did not respond in kind to your shots at me. I am not always that nice.

My initial thought was he was referring to  J.R. "Bob" Dobbs.

Do you think your special?  Anyone who would have posted that without looking in the other threads would have gotten the same response from Jim or any of a number of posters.  It has happened to me and many others.  Welcome to the club.

Do you really think the treatment was harsh?  That is the culture of this place.  Your post is not the culture of this place.  Read more & post less and you will figure it out.
Always ready to go to a game.

Every time I read the name Jim Ross for whatever reason I immediately go to Glengary Glen Ross.

Even though these things are technically not related they 100% are in regards to the WFW above.

My Lord, grow a pair. If I left because of derogatory comments about me, I'd have been gone long ago. Jim R is a serious bseball man who is very knowledgable about the game. Stick around, you can learn lots. In the 20 (has it been that long?) years that I've been around, I've learned more baseball here than I ever learned from any coach, and I had a couple of good ones. Jim R can be acerbic. He's unloaded on me many times. However, there's no nicer man than Jim R here. He would give you the shirt off of his back if you were in need. Read more post less.

Not to pile on, but it's JR Richard,  not Richards.

Not sorry if Cabrera'd.

I'm a clark from back in the late 1990's, but let me say this:

I blame Wynnable for our two game losing streak.

Never start a thread bashing any of the Raup's, and especially not a week before the freaking season.  Bad Juju.

Diaz's four errors to boot.

For god (Charlie Morton) sakes, never ever get in a land war in Asia on second most known is ragging on the Raup in the Whoopass.

Clue get.

The Raups, Jim and Mark, thank you.

jim, you probably do not remember me as I was more of a soccer coach (assistant at MSU) at the time , but what I remember was the amount of time you took to explain the nuances to a neophyte like myself and many others.  The stories of the game, Matt Belisle's development and whole host of issues -- like a baseball thesaurus with epic sarcasm.   Your time and energy has impacted thousands and thousands of people if not more.

Grateful for you, your honesty, your time and most of all that you share it with us in the pursuit of the loving the Astros.

Got your back.   One team, one family!

I'm a clark from back in the late 1990's, but let me say this:

I blame Wynnable for our three game losing streak.

Clue get.
