Astros at Blue Jays, Sept. 24, 2018
« on: September 24, 2018, 07:46:12 pm »
Astros put up 4 in the first 3 innings, including back-to-back jacks by Reddick and McCann.

Keuchel gives up a 2-run HR B4, and loads the bases with nobody out in B5.

B5, bases loaded, 4-3 Astros.
I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing AstroTurf and the designated hitter. I believe in the sweet spot, soft-core pornography, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve and I believe in long, slow, deep, torture of Bud Selig.

Keuchel not helped by JD Davis's defense.

ETA: Of course, he makes a decent play as soon as I type that.

Keuchel gets Smoak looking for the first out.

JD can play 1B/DH for the rest of his career as far as I'm concerned.

A bouncer to third gets the force at home, and a strikeout stops the bleeding.

End 5, 4-3 Astros.

No reason for JD Davis to be playing. True even if he homers.
Often wrong, but never in doubt.

Certainly not at 3B with Keuchel on the mound. That's just asking for trouble.

It certainly was, especially considering the guts it took to go there after what Pillar did to him in the previous AB.

Pillar is pretty damn good.

We gave them 2 shift-fuck singles.

The polite thing to do would have been to let that one fall.

Agreed.

Just watched a bit from the Cards Brewers game. Some 21 year from Cypress Creek just threw five FBs in a row at 103. Had to use a 92 slider to get the K though. I guess I’ve seen Chapman do that, but it’s an unusual sight.

Seriously? Have you watched Verlander pitch? Why do you suppose Tellez flies out? Luck?

The corollary is that Tellez was lucky to put that one in play.  Yes, it was in the center of the zone, but that doesn't mean that it's easy to hit.  It was a lazy opposite field fly ball.  Be happy with it.
The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

I can't hate Chapman because he is a hell of a player on both sides, but I hate Chapman.

He's going to be a pain in the Stros side for many years.

Mid 8
Oakland 7
Seattle 3

4 run deficit in the 8th.  You never see a home team overcome that.

No reason for JD Davis to be playing. True even if he homers.

I'll never understand Hinch's thinking on this.
At least he has gotten Fisher out of his system.
