After Thursdays off day, Oakland has no day off during the next 20 days.

While the Astros have two days off:  https://www.mlb.com/astros/schedule/2018-08

Not sure why the Astros' players uniforms are not orange and navy
The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

Altuve...0-2...1-2...2-2...3-2...singles to LF, Bregman scores
Correa...full count...grounds out 6-3...Altuve was running on the pitch, so no double play

Maybe his arm got stuck in the waving motion

He pulled a Robert Klein, but it was his arm rather than his leg.

He saw Verlander doing jumping jacks in the dugout.   Figured he needed to speed things along.

The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

Jerez in for the Halos

Marwin homers to LCF
Gurriel...0-2...grounds out 4-3
Reddick...0-2...slaps a single to CF and the shoes are 2 fer 2
Maldonado pops out F4 on the first pitch
Kemp singles to LF, Reddick to 2B
Bregman doubles to LCF, Reddick scores, Kemp held up at 3B
Altuve, who now has on a compression sleeve and elbow guard...grounds to 3B, Ward fields it and throws it into the Astros dugout...Kemp scores, Bregman scores on the TE5
Correa grounds out 6-3 on the first pitch

But the Astros rattle the bats a little...lead 8-3

Ohtani plunked on first pitch with 2 outs.

As Blum said,  that should be it.

He threw the pitch.  It had a purpose.  Wasn't malicious, just a message.  Play ball.

Blum's point about not using being wild as an excuse reminds me of the old Oswalt / Kerry Wood days.  The Cubs thought Oswalt was a headhunter, but Wood got away with it because he was "wild."

After watching the Yuli replay McGuire's reaction is pretty unconvincing, both immediately after the plunk and as HPU came out to hear Scioscia's bellyaching.

Info lifted from astroscounty.com

Astros, after 129 games, 2018: 79-50
 Astros, after 129 games, 2017: 78-51

Alex Bregman hit his 39th and 40th double of the season leading the league, and also drawing a walk. He has 68 strikeouts and 74 walks in 2018. It's been 34 plate appearances since Alex Bregman last struck out. Bregman has a 44-game road on-base streak, longest in MLB.

Since July 31, Marwin is hitting .329/.396/.683.

Astros pitchers with double-digit wins: 5
Other 29 teams with 10+ win pitchers: 35

Verlander has thrown a Quality Start in 19 of his 28 starts. Houston is 16-12 when Verlander starts. He had allowed two or fewer runs in eight of those 12 losses. Verlander:
Those guys backed me up today. Today was a battle for me physically. Didn't feel great for whatever reason. One of those games you take pride in battling, knowing I didn't have anywhere near my best stuff.

No chance in hell Osuna gets suspended. He might get fined, but even the dingleberries in the MLB main offices won't suspend him for proper retaliation, unless they elect to suspend everyone that hit a batter.

Maybe they'll suspend Scioscia from the post-game spread. He could use a few days off from that.

They hit our best guy. Typically, given the chance, you go after their best guy.

Osuna bypassed Trout and hit Ohtani. Respect for Trout, Ohtani, or both?

Trout just returned from a DL stint prolonged by the death of his brother-in-law/best friend (Aaron Cox, former LAA minor league pitcher). I'm not sure if it was on their minds—the game situation alone explains why they'd hit Ohtani instead—but I'd feel like a dick if I threw at a guy who just came back from that.
