Need a win boys.
The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

Maldonado is a good catcher.  He's way better than Federowicz.

Maybe he'll shave after that pitiful first at bat.  The Astros already have the B team out there.

Hard to score much when you don't swing the bat.

If we’re studying revisionist history, Lance would probably have thrown a different pitch to DDSJR if the umpire had properly ruled the bunt attempt a strike and the count was 0-2.

And of course Yuli whiffs on the slow chopper.

T6:

Odor doubles down the RF line on the first pitch
Profar bunts off the plate, Maldonado fields it and throws to 3B, Davis is late getting to the bag and botches it, but is ruled foul...another break...so now 0-2...singles off of McCuller's leg, it bounces into LF, Odor scores...Gurriel doesn't bother to cover 2B and Profar cruises in as Gurriel eventually steps on Profar's head.  Profar goes to the clubhouse to clean up...now back to 2B
Gallo...0-2...1-2...2-2...strikes out swinging
Kiner-Falefa...0-2...1-2 on a pitch in the dirt as Profar goes to 3B on the wild pitch...infield now has to come in...bounces one right at Gurriel who whiffs at it...E4 as Profar scores
Guzman doubles off the CF wall, Kiner-Falefa scores

And the that's it for McCullers...Smith in

Chirinos strikes out looking
Calhoun strikes out swinging

But the Astros display uncommon ineptitude at this level.  Rangers lead 4-1

Strike 1 to Reddick was up in the zone caught a lot of plate on the outer half.

Reddick can't hit a pitch on the outer half of the plate.

Consider switching to Braves-Dodgers to watch Sean Newcomb as they head to the 9th.

Loses it with 2 out in the 9th. Solid single through the left side.

Claudio in for the Rangers

White...0-2...1-2...2-2...singles to LF
Davis doubles off the CF wall, White to 3B..Deshields had it until he made contact with the wall
Maldonado flies out to LF, White stands at 3B as the throw home is way up the 1B line...lack of speed kills
Kemp...infield back...grounds into FC, White out 4-2 by about 30 feet, Davis to 3B...Rangers conceding the run, but then realized  it was Tyler White at 3B
Springer chops out weakly 5-3

UnFUCKINGbelievable

4-2 Rangers

Five of the six hits have been made by players that started at Fresno this year: White - 3, and one each for Kemp & Davis.

That last AB by Springer is exactly why I prefer to see many other Astros step to the plate in crucial circumstances. He is rarely selective; he likely would have received a 4 pitch walk if he had opted not to swing the bat. Instead, he flailed wildly at pitches out of the zone. Your hope is for the pitcher to accidentally hit his bat with a pitch.

It's shocking how shallow the offensive talent is in this organization.

There were more injuries last year, but most of them were to pitchers. (Position players got hurt, but those were spaced out, with never more than 1 or 2 out at a time.) The Astros just kept finding more pitchers to fill in, even with most of their original starting rotation missing.

Losing three starting position players this year to the DL (and two others to regression and/or hidden injuries) has completely crippled them and may end their season, if the injuries to Correa and Altuve are serious enough. And they have no clear solution. They're running out of major league hitters. I was bitching about trading for a bat earlier, but I'm not sure there's any plausible deal that will fix this.

Agreed.  Marwin and Reddick not performing anywhere near how they did last year was hurting this offense when it was at full strength.  Now, their slumps are killing it.

Lunhow needs to find a bat in the next two days.  Especially considering they play Seattle 10 times in the next 20 games.
Time you enjoy wasting, was not wasted.

They also had a 15-game lead at the time, and lost 5 games in the standing in less than a week. That happens this year, they’re in third place next Friday.

No giant cushion this year.
10 of the next 20 vs Seattle.
3 games vs Oakland in that span.

We're beginning to see WHY it's so hard to repeat a WS championship....

Losing our 3 and 4 hitters at the same time could be insurmountable. Yuli has to get going again.
Often wrong, but never in doubt.

They also had a 15-game lead at the time, and lost 5 games in the standing in less than a week. That happens this year, they’re in third place next Friday.

They lost 5 games then, and added 11 more after that.

Long season.

I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing AstroTurf and the designated hitter. I believe in the sweet spot, soft-core pornography, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve and I believe in long, slow, deep, torture of Bud Selig.

Yes they did. My point is that they could afford to stumble last season. They can’t this season. They’re in a much tougher division. Making the postseason is going to be a fight. They can’t afford to tread water for a month.
The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

Perfect way to end it.

Vomit.

Actually, Hurling was a viable alternative… All Ireland semi-finals last weekend and the games were pretty good from what I saw.
