Game is scheduled for Fox, but ladies golf is running late

I'm still getting Joe Buck calling women's golf. Losing on all fronts. Although I suspect the crowd calling the Astros game for FOX won't be worth a damn.

No.  They're awful.

This exactly. It's like listening to two guys that read a book on baseball last week have a discussion about the game while sitting at the bar in the clubhouse of a public golf course.

Some of those broads are still on 15. I guess they stick with this shit until all of them are in the house. This is a travesty I tell ya. Take the game away from the regular outlet and then don't show it.

Gurriel singles up the middle
Gattis gets one in the beard that he hits a billion miles an hour that almost takes Price's face off...but Bogaertys right behind 2B to catch it
Stassi...count is full..strikes out swinging as Gurriel steals 2B
Marwin triples off the LCF wall, Gurriel scores
Marisnick strikes out swinging at a pitch over his head 8 feet off the plate

But we're tied 1-1

He was nearly in tears. Reddick should be back this week and they also reactivated Fisher and optioned him to tripleA

I like the manual scoreboard, too.

Per McTaggart mctweet on 4/2/18:

Crane said they're hoping to extend lease at Minute Maid Park soon. Also, he hinted team could add an electronic out-of-town scoreboard in future. That's overdue.

(They are 18yrs into 30yr lease).

I'm still getting Joe Buck calling women's golf. Losing on all fronts.

I'm sorry, man, but I laughed out loud at this.

I turned the game on before I'd read through this. It took me approximately seven seconds to determine that I would need to switch to the radio guys. It seems like my knee jerk appraisal was not ultimately misguided.

Benintendi strikes out looking
Bogaerts...full count...walks
Bogaerts steals 2B
Martinez singles to RF, Bogaerts scores
Martinez steals 2B
Moreland lines out to 2B
Nunez strikes out swinging at a pitch in the dirt...Stassi blocks it and throws to 1B to complete the strikeout

I'm remembering that a number of years ago I got an email from someone trying to sell me Marlins season tickets. I replied to him in an uncharacteristically caustic manner managing if I recall to insult him, his organization, the league, the commissioner, the nearest school crossing guard, you know, anyone I could think of. I must have been in a poor mood.

Anyway, after a while he writes me back and says that everyone in the office loves my message and that he's printed it out and posted it up wherever they post shit like this and can he call me? Sure, I say, amiable as ever. So he does. In the pursuant conversation he mentioned that he and JD Martinez are childhood friends and that JD's a great guy and that he expected great things from him. At this point everyone still thought of JD as a fourth outfielder on a mediocre team. Well, I said doubtfully, good luck to him.

I'm on record many years ago saying I thought J.D. had the ability to be a good hitter in this league he just needed a few tweaks to his swing.  He got them.

I remember first seeing him at Joker Marchant and he went nutso. After his second or third at bat and his second or third multi-base hit people in my section were going crazy. Whoever the teams third base coach was at the time turned and looked up and smiled and nodded as if to say, Yeah, this is about what you can expect from this guy.

And then... We know the rest of the story, obviously, but today he sure looks like that guy I saw in Lakeland a decade ago or whenever it was. I mean, every time that fucker steps in the box I fully expect him to smoke one somewhere.

Awesome work there.

He had a really long swing so he was vulnerable to the inside pitch and a good high fastball, but it was flat.  He just needed to get that front foot up and down and be quicker to the ball.  He got some good coaching and turned into a pretty good hitter.

So apparently there is radio signal in Dallas but not in Houston and definitely not Austin.

Austin I can understand because there must be some obscure UT athletic competition that the affiliate deems necessary to cover, co-ed goat roping, mens hackey sack, ladies golf, you know, something.

The earth is flat.

There's a piece in a recent New Yorker, could be the current issue, about a flat-earther convention. It's an interesting phenomenon, you know, the impulse to say The government lies to us (OK...) and therefore science is invalid (???).

Of course lots of people elect to reject reality so I suppose it's no surprise that people would be happy to reject science.

This is a fucked up game.  Sipp looked good.

He got three lefties. He should literally never face a righty.

That ball by Bregman would have been 30 ft in front of the HIll.

So apparently there is radio signal in Dallas but not in Houston and definitely not Austin.

Austin I can understand because there must be some obscure UT athletic competition that the affiliate deems necessary to cover, co-ed goat roping, mens hackey sack, ladies golf, you know, something.

What Mark said. Every game is on in Austin.

Kelly in...

Bregman...full count...flies out to medium CF...announcers go berserk crying yard.
Altuve...full count...walks
Altuve steals 2B
Correa...full count...grounds out 5-3
Altuve steals 3B
Gurriel singles to RF, Altuve scores
Gattis...getting fucked on calls...2-2...pops out F4...had the bat taken right out of his hands by the cocksucker behind the plate

But the Astros cut the lead...5-4 Sox

Up until that strike call, he'd had a pretty good night at the plate. He wasn't calling the top of the zone, but he was consistently not calling it.

B9:

Kimbrel in for the Sox

Stassi...quickly down 0-2 as the plate just got three feet wide...1-2...2-2...strikes out swinging at a pitch in his eyes
Kemp...0-2...flies out to shallow LF
Davis, pinch hitting for Marisnick...quickly 0-2...strikes out swinging...never stood a chance

And once again the pen snatches defeat from the jaws of victory, third time this week.

Astros go down 5-4

Harris shits the bed at the bottom of the order with 2 outs, and the bullpen serves up the 3rd turd sandwich of the week.

Verlander is the best pitcher in the league and the team has lost I think 5 of his 12 starts. They're 7-5 with a guy with an era of one and change on the mound. That is nuts.

At least they mix it up a little - sometimes it's getting one-hit, sometimes it's the bullpen shitting the bed. You never really know. That's what makes it fun.

EXACTLY. Lefty doesn't realize that MLB HQ is black hat deep state. I feel sorry for him, I really do. Alkie knows. That's why he emerged with his cryptic comments masquerading as "statistics."

The only loose end I can see is whether Marisnick has infiltrated the organization on the part of a division rival. Sometimes from what we see on the field it seems obvious that he has. Then I read some tweets and I just don't know. I may have to pardon Tim Tschida and closely watch the after effects in order to truly find out.

Reading this thread sober is very disturbing.

Since I know everyone is hanging on this answer, I finally got the game tv broadcast at 8:30 last night. That is 2.5 hrs. after the game started. Just in time for the Harris pitching change.
