For a moment, I thought Bregman hit a delicious oppo taco off Bauer, but it ended up as only a loud out to right, caught on the warning track.

Ramirez hit the ever loving shit out of that hanging fastball.

Wasn't my fault. I turned it on only to see that we're already behind 2-0.

Bottom 1
Cole walks the lead off hitter Lindor
Brantley Ks looking on a questionable 3-2 called strike
Jose Ramirez homers to center on a meatball, driving in Lindor.
Encarnacion rolls over on an outside breaking pitch and grounds out 6-3.
Cole strikes out Alonso on a nasty breaking ball down and in under his hands.

Indians lead 2-0.

I’m switching over to the radio broadcast for a few innings, so, if anyone is out there, feel free to type PBP.

You can pretty much groove a first pitch fastball to every Astro hitter. They are simply not going to swing at the first pitch fastball. Ever.

Fuck. Springer lollygagged that routine single, then missed the cutoff man and Jason fucking Kipnis scores from 1B on routine seeing eye single. Pathetic effort.

I’d send Springer a message. After his little stunt on the caught stealing the other night, and twice here today, he needs a serious attitude adjustment.

Lollygagging
There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.

Springer didn’t even try in that at bat.  Simply embarassing.  He either needs to be benched or get his ass chewed out in the dugout.

Like they said last night, Hinch was concerned about him being a guess hitter.  He’s looked like that for a while now. I start to wonder if his ceiling really is superstar.

He didn’t even need to be clutch. He only needed not to suck with a runner on 3rd and 1 out.

Bauer throws 8 pitches, none of them even reached the plate and gets two punch outs. Awesome.

If Bauer threw nothing but 58-ft curveballs today, he’d be throwing a perfect game.

How have the Astros not made an adjustment?  They should be sitting on his curveball.

They should be laying off the curveball and swing at hittable fastballs. They’re working exactly backwards.
The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

Makes sense.  There’s no excuse for Jake, Yuli and Correa to swing at the curves they did the last two innings.  It’s clear he’s pitching backwards.

Bauer hasn’t thrown a curveball over the plate in four innings. Yet he’s got 13 punchouts.

My pessimistic nature convinced me Brantley would catch that liner. I’m happy to report that Springer is standing on second with 1 down.

The strike zone.  Specifically, a called third strike on Alex Bregman.

This is why you don't fuck around and get cute with your pen. Getting Giles some work with a 5 run lead is idiotic.

Not yet, but he may not be mad as he was.

But I feel a bit of karma hitting me right now.

I really need the Astros to win before we get to church. I won't be able to check the score once we are there.

Stil need at least two more innings from the pen. Getting cute with Giles means you’ve now burnt up your pen ahead of the most important series of the year.

I'm just gobsmacked by how much this team has regressed mentally. It's 2016 again.

Expecting another title is silly. It's hard every year, but especially tough this year with a league this top heavy. There are so many things that can go wrong:

1. Injuries.
2. A few bad breaks in a short postseason series.
3. A better team showing up and beating you.

But there was one thing, after what they did last year, I thought was absolutely, positively off the table:

4. Failing because the stage is too big for you.

And suddenly we're seeing signs of that, and it's still the regular season. Close games, and clutch situations late in those games, are a total mystery to these guys. Yeah, they won some that are technically, mathematically close, but that's mostly games when Verlander or Cole or whoever goes nuclear and they blow out the other team 2 - 0.
When the Clark is dead, Spack will eat his spleen. Before he dies, Spack will put his posts under the knife so the Clark will see his threads wiped out forever...

Worst loss of the year?? Probably so, but I don’t think this carries over to tomorrow. I know it is an early start but the plane ride from Cleveland to NY is what, 45 minutes to an hour? They will be fine as long as they don’t have to dip in the bullpen too much tomorrow. Hopefully JV will be his normal self.

The offense is coming around but this team is still taking way to many fastballs, especially Bregman and Marwin.

Oh, and whenever Fisher or Reddick are ready to come off the DL, Marisnick should be the one to go back to AAA. His shortcomings at the plate far outweigh whatever he does in the field.

It’s just a loss. All decision-makers in the bottom of the 9th need to take stock. And the Indians need credit for some high-quality vaunting.

So I guess we just shouldn't even play the rest of the season? Give me a break. There have been some struggles and some guys need to get their shit together, but regressed mentally? The stage being too big? It's the end of fucking may... may! Being concerned about things is one thing but giving up on the defending champs who are 14 games over .500 at the end of may, to me, is just plain stupid.

It’s just a loss. All decision-makers in the bottom of the 9th need to take stock. And the Indians need credit for some high-quality vaunting.
Many of the pitches the Indians hit in the 9th weren't terrible pitches.

Most likely Davis to AAA over Marisnick.

This is a good point. A couple of those hits came on pitches that I’m sure if you gave them a second chance, our pitchers would take their chances again with the same pitch in the same location. The ball Kipnis hit to right off Harris was about 4 inches off the dirt and he golfed it out there. Two of the hits off Rondon were bottom of the knee cap on the outside corner. Tough pitches that just got hit.

Sometimes shit happens.

I'm not sure about that. Kemp has been a pleasant surprise in the field, and JD has nothing to prove at AAA.  Let him stay up and get some ABs.

Except he’s really not getting them now.  He will have even fewer chances when guys return.

I agree with this. Send Jake down and give JD some serious at bats just like you have given Kemp. If he can’t hit, it’ll show and you call Fish or Jake back up.

That is actually my point. He should. Sitting on bench in Houston does not show anyone anything and hitting 400+ at Fresno is equally a non-event. Give him regular PT in Houston and see what happens.
