Carlos had one of the worst ABs you'll ever see from a cleanup hitter with 2-on 1-out in the first.  That's all I have to report.

Is it pronounced Sam Ard Zi Juh or Sa Mard Ze Ja, what syllable is the accent on, and is there a vaccine for it?

Absolutely terrible first step. I fucking hate this offense at home.

Nonsense. The coaches position him. The ball was hit over his head, which happens. Why don’t you blame the fat pitch?

I'm more worried about the UT-Kansas game right now.

Great news out of UT today. Connie Clark “resigned.”

Admittedly, I don't follow the women's sports much, was the firing for behavior or for performance?  I think it's weird that I have to think this every time now.

Performance as far as I know.. if you do not with with Cat Osterman for four years, it ain’t happening. Consistently underperformed. Plonsky has protected her for years, but there is a new Sheriff in town.

I've liked del Conte a lot since he was at Rice.  He's good people.  I like everything he's doing at UT so far.

Astros win 4-1. JV’s May was unreal, but he was only 2-2 because of no runs. Astros were 2-3 in his 5 starts.

Another series win.

More good pitching.  And Correa was productive today.

More historic pitching, would be more accurate.

I"ve been wondering for about three years now how she was keeping that job. Her teams consistently fail to deliver.

What has happened to McCutheon?

You could see the whole way he didn’t pick up the ball clearly. Blum did a good job of pointing out that when you run all out, your head is bouncing making it harder to track the ball.

Still, it is shocking to see a play like that from someone like McCutchen

On a side note, this is why as an outfielder you don't want to drift with the ball.  You sprint to a spot and make sure you've got the ball.  Not that McCutchen did...he was in an all-out sprint just to get to the ball.  But the same principle applies.  It's harder to make a catch on the run.
The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

McCutheon also made a poor effort on a Gurriel  bloop in the first game. It was a ball he could have caught in his back pocket in years past.
