Aarrrggghhhh, bad McCullers has shown up tonight.
I remember all the good times me 'n Miller enjoyed
Up and down the M1 in some luminous yo-yo toy
But the future has to change - and to change I've got to destroy
Oh look out Lennon here I come - land ahoy-hoy-hoy

T1:

Margot...0-2...1-2...grounds out 5-3
Pirela chops one through the hole between 3B and SS...seeing eye single
Hosmer...full count...walks, Pirela to 2B
Pickoff attempt at 2B, McCullers throws it into CF...Pirela to 3B, Hosmer to 2B on the TE1
Villanueva...infield in...full count...strikes out swinging
Passed ball...Pirela scores, Hosmer to 3B...McCann crossed up
Renfroe grounds out 5-3

Pads get an unearned run in a trainwreck of an inning...lead 1-0

B1:

Springer lines out to SS
Bregman...3-2...strikes out swinging
Altuve...3-0...3-1...3-2...walks
Correa...has to dive back from strike one...takes strike two that almost hits his feet...a jillion throws to 1B...strikes out swinging at a bouncer in the dirt

1-0 Padres

None of these banjos have hit a ball out of the infield, the strike zone is 9 times the regular size, and McCullers can't throw a fucking strike

In spite of the size of the strike zone, McCullers is having trouble fitting a pitch into it.

Don't know why they'd risk an out on the bases with the way Lance looks tonight, but I'll take it.

McCullers ought to be able to take advantage of it if he can avoid bouncing the ball to McCann.

I thought I read where they were around $11,000...which is a $3,000 tax bill for the recipient, though I saw Brownie post that Crane paid that too.

I thought I read where they were around $11,000...which is a $3,000 tax bill for the recipient, though I saw Brownie post that Crane paid that too.
But who pays the taxes on the taxes that were paid? /IRS inception

I assume that was included in what Crane paid extra.  My company pays the taxes on little extras for me, and it includes the "tax on the tax".

B3:

Springer...0-2...reaches down and punches one up the middle for a single
Bregman takes a cookie down the middle for strike three
Altuve with a Texas Leaguer to RF, Springer read it well and goes 1B to 3B
Correa...takes strike one which is literally three ball widths off the plate...0-2...hits one off his ankles to CF...sac fly as Springer scores
Reddick...3-0...walks on four pitches, Altuve to 2B
Marwin...full up...bounces out 4-3

But the Astros tie up 1-1

Pitch in the dirt...Asuaje takes off...McCann with a perfect throw, which beats the runner by three steps, but Correa just doesn't put the tag down and Asuaje safe on a wild pitch

Gattis grounds up the middle...Asuaje snares it but has no play, as it looks like he tried to flip it to the SS...infield single for Gattis

There are different versions of the ring, some are more expensive and some are much less expensive. I'm trying to find the numbers, but I know I read it somewhere.

McHugh a bright spot in this otherwise dank effort.

It's really interesting to have a bullpen where (at least) three different guys can go 2-3 innings. It really changes the way you think about attacking the game.

B8:

Yates in for the Padres...2,3,4 due up for the Astros...time to make something happen!

Bregman flies out to shallow CF
Altuve strikes out looking
Correa strikes out swinging

3-1 Padres

Yeah, it's hard to be real upset. But I'm not liking Giles's performances so far this year.

T9:

Giles in for the Astros

Margot grounds out 4-3
Pirela grounds out 6-3
Hosmer lines one up the middle, and Springer lollygags it into a double
Villanueva doubles down the LF line, Hosmer scores...another 2-strike hit
Renfroe grounds up the middles...Altuve dives and stops it, throws from his knees, but can't nip the runner as Marwin is off the bag...Villanueva to 3B
Asuaje grounds out 4-3

4-1 Padres

I am too.  Tonight is one of those games where everything just seems out of whack.  It happens.

Am I the only one sick of Giles? I just have zero confidence in him. If we don’t have a 2 run lead, you can’t bring him in.

I wouldn't say I'm sick of him, but I don't have a lot of confidence in him, either.

B9:

Hand in for the Padres...

Reddick...quickly down 0-2...strikes out swinging...yells "FUCK!"
Marwin...full count...walks
Gattis flies out F9 on the first pitch
Stassi, pinch hitting for McCann...quickly down 0-2...strikes out swinging

Astros go down, as the Padres pick up their second win on the season...4-1

You'd think 4 runs is surmountable with this lineup. They really miss Yuli.

Well, I had the bottom of the 9th all typed up, but it’s storming like a motherfucker and my satellite internet went out just as Stassi struck out hot end the game. Suffice it to say the Astros did not mount a comeback.

Gotta wipe this one off the books and go get ‘em tomorrow.
