Apparently have signed Neil Walker.

They have a very good lineup.   This is going to be a scary team to face.
Boom!

The bottom of their lineup is kinda weak. I'm not too concerned about them. Just don't give them meat fastballs and you should be fine.

Yesterday on Astros radio, Sparky said he heard Hinch tell Boone he's got a new Righty for Sanchez, Stanton and Judge.

Smith held the Yankees to 1 for 16 last season, and hitless in 4 games of the ALDS.

NYY in 4 ALCS games in Houston

Their home-road split was pretty extreme in the regular season - 50-31 at home but 40-41 on the road - and that got worse in the playoffs.  They were 1-6 on the road, 5-0 at home.  The Indians made 3 errors in the game that the Yankees won in Cleveland.

If that kind of road anaemia is repeated in 2018, the Yankees will likely fail to get home field advantage in the playoffs (if they get there at all) and will be struggling again to progress thereafter.  They're built for their bandbox (318' to LF and 314' to RF) and don't do well if they can't get a bunch of cheap home runs.  Their hitters looked like completely different people in NY than they did in Houston.

Also, fuck the Yankees.

I'm watching Game 1 on youtube right now.  It was glorious the first time, but it gets better every damn time.

I keep forgetting that the Yanks inexplicably fired Girardi.  Regardless of the bats that they've added, they're heading into a season with incredibly high expectations and a first-time (ever!) manager.  Boone could be Larry Dierker...or he could be Larry Dierker.
