Liriano/Devo
« on: November 02, 2017, 02:21:50 pm »
Not to be forgotten in excellence of Peacock and Morton...both Liriano and Devo got key outs at a key time last night.  Liriano came in to face Bellinger with two on and one out, and got the FC for the second out.  Devo then got Puig on the soft liner to 1B.  Liriano was much maligned when he first came over, but I remember hearing an interview with Luhnow who said that he didn't care about August, that Liriano was brought in to get "one big out in October".  Well, it was actually November, but he did exactly what they brought him here to do.  And Devo vs. Puig, III...awesome job.  Both of those guys only faced one hitter, but they were a huge part of the win.
The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

Liriano also stranded two  runners in the bottom of the 8th of Game 6, at least giving the offense a shot in the 9th.  Was glad to see him get a couple of WS appearances and come through.

Liriano got 1 big out in October and 1 big out in November. In the end, decent trade, helped win a world series.

I too was extremely happy for Liriano. He had a rough time when he first came over and he never really seem to get on track. It was nice to see him do his job in both appearances of the World Series.

Yes.  The number of accolades that need to go around seems endless but when the whole team contributes,  So be it.

Liriano might be worth a look next spring.

Totally agree. Trade for an elite lefty and he is #2

Absolutely.

To my untrained eye, it certainly seems like he has the stuff to be one of the top left-on-left relievers in the game, if/when he completely adjusts to the transition from SP. He seemed to be getting it the last month or so of the season.

I think, if he went into spring training as a reliever, he'd be a damn good one. It's tough to make a midseason transition like that
