Thanks Waldo.
Of course Altuve hits .400 vs Kershaw.
Don't think twice, it's alright.

Thanks Waldo,

 Nice preview.

One observation from the NLCS: I hate the way the fence behind the plate looks with the front row completely visible to the viewer all the way down to their feet.  Much worse than when they had the Panama Jack looking dude with the radar gun back there.

Thanks, Waldo. On paper, this Series looks like a Dodger win so I am glad they do not play the games on paper.

According to this analysis Keuchel has no shot against the Dodgers.

With the record high temps in LA it is noted that fly balls travel a little further. Good to have a ground ball pitcher opening.

I started reading then sped through the rest of the stat-picking wonkiness (i.e. the sort of shit I used to come up with) - which seemed mostly oblivious to the fact that the Astros get to bat too - to get to the most accurate part of the article right at the end:

Quote
In many respects, this series resists analysis. It’s a showdown between two teams with triple-digit win totals that spent most of the season as presumptive pennant favorites.

Maybe we should just play the actual games.

The Astros mettle has been tested far more than the Dodgers,  but of course one could argue that was self inflicted or reflects a vulnerability of some sort.

Either way,  our guys are though as nails.

On the weather channel this morning they were saying hot dry air increases drag on the ball which makes the ball travel less.

Much was made about Houston's humidity and how that would make the ball fly out of MMP much more easily with the roof open.

The warmer the air, the less dense it is. Higher humidity further decreases the air's density.  It makes sense that the less dense the air, the lower the resistance it would give to a struck ball allowing it to travel farther but I don't know for sure.

I think this was the counter-intuitive consensus that was arrived at during the 2000 season...where I think Lima is still trying to get the 3rd out of the 5th inning.

Dodgers drop windmill Granderson (OF) off the roster and also Farmer (C) while adding Seager (SS) and McCarthy (P).

So their roster now has more of an AL feel to it, despite 4 games scheduled for the NL park.

Thanks.

Time to turn the page mentally.

We can revisit game 2 later.

Wonder if they'll stick with Darvish past 2 troops thru the lineup.

He went 5 innings in the nlds and 6.1 innings in the alcs. Gave up 1 run each time. 2 hits against the dbacks and 6 hits against the cubs. So I guess it's anyone's guess

If we can put some traffic on the bases, I think Roberts will have a hard time going against his primary instinct.

Loads of unpredictable movement.

stRangers would get frustrated with him for nibbling/trying to be a magician.   Ann's he dies give up the longball.

Agree that early traffic is good.  Felt like we let CC and Hill off the hook a few times.

Does Beltran get the start at DH given the lefty-righty matchup?  I assume Gattis will be the DH against Wood/Kershaw for the same reason.

Marwin ruined his perfect game a couple years back in the 9th inning.  Another reason I love Marwin!

Keep the pressure up,  maybe we can force Roberts to pt a position player on the mound.

You'll all be pleased to know that Den 8 was the unanimous winner of Pack 110s Fall Campout Chilli Cookoff.

I of course had a bag of Fritos and grated cheese on hand, nearly everyone who partook made the magical Pie of Fritos.

Waldo thanks so much for the pre and post views of the games. Looking at the VOID with a clear and happy heart. So glad that there is only one more day of baseball remaining and the Astros are in the game with a chance to win it all. This is as good as it gets. Appreciate all you and others do to make this a great place to be an Astros addict.

I concur with all of this. Thanks for the work , Waldo.

The VOID will be upon us soon, but there is one last game to be played and my team is in it. If you had asked any fan if they would take that at the beginning of the season, only the fools would have turned it down.
