Let's go get a win boys!
The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

Bregman's single clearly means a slump is coming. No extra bases? Sad!

T2:

Bregman...3-1...lines a single to LF
Marwin pops out F5 in foul territory
Davis grounds to SS on the first pitch..SS slips to 2B, Moncada tries to catch it with his bare hand, takes his eyes off of it, and misses it...Marwin safe at 2B and Davis reaches on the E4
Bregman caught trying to steal 3B...Davis moves to 2B
Centeno singles to CF...Davis to 3B...Centeno tries to move to 2B on the throw to the plate, but because Davis was not running, there is no play and Centeno is meat at 2B...9-2-4

What a horrible inning

0-0

Man Centeno is SO much better at receiving and framing a pitch than McCann or Gattis.  It's refreshing.

Son of a son of a gangster...

(no Delmonico's pop wasn't a gangster, he was actually the long-time baseball coach at the University of Tennessee)

B6:

Abreu strikes out swinging
Garcia...0-2...doubles off the top of the CF wall...that was a hanger right down Broadway...lucky that wasn't hit 500 feet
Delmonico nubs one off the end of the bat, right over the 3B bag...Garcia to 3B...good job by Mawin to save a run for now...
Sanchez grounds into FC...Delmonico out 4-6 at 2B, but not hit hard enough to get the speedy Sanchez...Garcia scores
Anderson flies out F9

Sox plate a run...2-1 Astros

6-pitch inning, Peacock right back out there

My mind thought, "to the minors!!" in the "to the fridge!!" tone. Advertising may work, although I never buy Minute Maid products, but we need a bigger collection of ads during the telecast. I still remember that fucking kid pouring OJ into the fish bowl.

B7:

Narvaez...full count...singles to RF
Engel sac bunt...3-4, Narvaez to 2B

That's all for Peacock, Devo in

Garcia...1-2...hit by pitch...Hinch challenging...looks like it didn't hit him, so should be overturned, but then it's a wild pitch, and Narvaez to 3B...call stands...not sure why, it clearly did not hit him
Moncada strikes out swinging
Abreu pops out F6

Good job by Devo...2-1 Astros

Gregerson in...

Garcia chops a slow roller to 3B on the first pitch...infield hit
Delmomico taps out in front of the plate on the first pitch, Centeno grabs it and throws it into CF...Garcia to 3B on the TE2
Delmonico to 2B on a wild pitch
Sanchez...infield in after the wild pitch...strikes out swinging...2-3 to finish the putout
Anderson...infield still in...0-2...strikes out swinging
Narvzez...1-0...Astros go ahead and put him on to load the bases
Hanson, pinch hitting for Engel...full count...grounds out 3U

What a fucking job by LG44!!!!

T9:

Giles in to try to close it out...

Garcia...1-2...fouling off pitches...strikes out swinging
Moncada...Giles getting squeezed...2-0...homers to LF
Abreu...2-0..2-1...2-2...strikes out swinging
Garcia...3-0...walks
Delmonico...3-1...walks, Garcia to 2B
Sanchez...0-2...strikes out swinging

So Giles strikes out the side, but not before a 2-0 fastball sails out of the yard...

Clippard in for the Sox...

Marisnick strikes out swinging
Springer...0-2...1-2...grounds out 6-3
Altuve...0-2...singles to RF
Altuve steals 2B
Reddick....0-2 on pitches 4 feet off the plate, because...he's Josh Reddick and his strike zone is four times the size of everyone else...strikes out swinging at a pitch in the dirt

Still have to get six more outs now...

2-2

Or swing at the first two pitches which were balls, either way.

Gurriel grounds out 5-3
Bregman walks
Marwin grounds into FC...Bregman out 4-6 at 2B

Goldberg out...Holmberg in...

Beltran, pinch hitting for Davis...singles to LF, Marwin to 2B
Centeno...3-1...grounds out 4-3

Still need six more outs...2-2

What about the time their top four pitchers were on the DL at the same time?  Or when they went a couple weeks without two of their best three offensive players?

Weathered one but seeking shelter on the second.  They have lost their mojo losing Springer and Correa.  I hope they find it soon because they have not played well in since the break.

Last night was exceptionally disappointing because it would have been exactly the kind of win they needed.  Close game, got good starting pitching, and though only punched a couple runs across, had a chance to make them stand up.  That's the kind of baseball games they need to start winning.  It's one thing to win when you score 14 runs, but you have to be able to make 2 or 3 runs hold up occasionally too.  They can't.  Which is why I'm really worried that that they can hold on to the division lead or even make the postseason.  I think it'll take 88-90 wins, and right now I struggle to see them finding a way to win 19 more games.

Aoki brought skills that Fisher doesn't.  And vice versa.  But I liked the team the Astros ran out there in May and June.

He seemed very calm also.  I think that calmness he has can keep lows from getting to low.

I do wish he had been able to stay, but there are quite a few players on this team that need to just pull up their big boy pants and get their head on straight.

Exactly.  Aoki is a lot like Gurriel in that neither seem nonplussed (man that just reads wrong on the page) by the situation.  That leads to the consistency that Aoki has demonstrated throughout his career.  Fisher has been a big part of the problem the last couple of weeks.  Hopefully he can be part of the solution.  But it's tough to count on young and inexperienced guys.

Fisher's start this year reminds me of Bregman's last year. He's got a good swing, he's got a good eye, but right now he's still playing catch-up. I think he'll be good with time, possibly very good, but boy, right now it's tough.
