He's played there 4 times as much as he has in LF for Fresno this year, hopefully he doesn't make things too interesting out there.

But is he any good at it?  He runs like a left-fielder.

Judging by T1, it didn't work.

Better ABs top 2.  But three liners lead to 3 quick outs.

These last four injuries have (seemingly) happened for no damn reason:

Carlos swings a bat and tears a thumb up
Moran fouls a ball off his face, something I've never seen in 50+ years of watching baseball.
Springer just turns around in the outfield and strains a quad.
Now Bregman....perhaps sliding into third?
He breezed him, one more time!

Correa damaged his thumb on that ridiculous attempt to score from 2B on a groundout with a 7- run lead.

I'd imagine that *if Bregman misses any significant time Marwin takes over short, Yuli 3rd, and maybe Reed gets another crack at 1st? Is there someone I'm missing? Or does JD Davis make the leap?

You want Marwin, Altuve and Gurriel to have to play every inning of every game?  They'll need another infielder, one who can play SS.

They just DFA'd Ashur Tolliver, so there's a spot on the 40 for a trade or promotion.

Double by Altuve, passed ball and Reddick with an RBI single makes it 2-0 Astros.

There are slim pickings at Fresno and Corpus for a ready for MLB shortstop. If it were like the NBA they could sign Jhonny Peralta to a 10 day contract.

There are slim pickings at Fresno and Corpus for a ready for MLB shortstop. If it were like the NBA they could sign Jhonny Peralta to a 10 day contract.

But he must be pretty shitty now, he's been cut by St Louis and Boston this year.

I'll bet Keuchel is thrilled to see the recent make-over of the left side of the infield.

Never met him. He's a big boy too.

I won't go full Chuck, but he could put down some wings and beers a couple of years ago.

They needed those 7 out of Morton, that was some veteran pitching.

Man, Morton looked *tough* the last couple of innings. Who had him making it through 7, especially when he was at 55 pitches or whatever in the 3rd?

I like that Hinch is getting Martes in to increasingly more difficult situations. I'm looking forward to see how he does here.

The radio guys said on the broadcast today that Morton is one of the bigger workout warriors on the team and likes to throw it around in the weight room, which was more than mildly surprising. If I were forced to rank the Astros based on lifting prowess, Morton would likely have fallen somewhere between McHugh and Aoki in the bottom 5 on the 25.

Martes's 99 mph fastball off the backstop was vintage Nuke LaLoosh.

Martes looks like he could lift a few pounds but my money is on Gattis for the top spot.

The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

Didn't have the Pulenta at the local Twin Lics, I was too lazy to drive the mile across town to Specs during the 7PM "traffic".  Settled for WL Wellers for now.

I think showcasing him in CF is very possible. The As want one.

That was my first thought when I saw Fisher in CF.  Beane was quoted yesterday:  "I'm looking for a major-league-ready center fielder".

It was also predictable that twitter would blow up with "he's been traded" tweets when Bregman left the game.

Maybe after we've added two high quality bullpen arms, a frontline starter and Correa's thumb actually falls off.

I was only speculating. HH pointed out how precariously thin we are at SS after Bregman. If he were to miss significant time I wouldn't want to see Brignac up....
