Interesting that he's sick and not starting but available off of the bench. Am I crazy to think Hinch may be sending a message by benching him after not running out that play on the ground ball he hit last night?

Oh, I see.  So you have the service through U-Verse, as opposed to through MLB.com?  I have it with MLB.com, so I can just watch on any device anyway.  That's why I got confused.  I use my Nvidia Shield to watch on TV.

Anyway... YULI!

If I were old enough he'd probably have been mine, too. To this day I do not understand that guy's insane power. We've all seen footage of him hitting the ball way out of some fucked up old park whose fences were so absurdly deep that they stored shit in the outfield. Where was that?

The Toy Cannon was my favorite player as a kid.

He was a mini-Mays. Very underrated due to the dome.

If I were old enough he'd probably have been mine, too. To this day I do not understand that guy's insane power. We've all seen footage of him hitting the ball way out of some fucked up old park whose fences were so absurdly deep that they stored shit in the outfield. Where was that?

Forbes Field, Pittsburgh. I loved that park.

What the hell happened with Marwin?  Gamezone says he "Caught stealing at 3B:  Marwin Gonzalez advances to third base on a caught stealing error by Nicholas Castellanos, assist to P Warrick Saupold".

Marwin broke from second early, the pitcher threw to third. Castellanos dropped the ball thrown from Saupold and Marwin was able to avoid a run down make it back to second safely.

Ah OK.  Botched pick off.  Wasn't sure as I thought Marwin was already at 3B.  Never seen that described quite that way.

No. He definitely didn't advance to  3B on that play; he barely made it back to 2B. Then he tagged and advanced to 3B on the fly to right.

This is an almost nightly thing for me. After the game tonight I went back to the game menu wondering what else was on offer. I saw the Dodgers game and then remembered... Fuck it, I thought.

I listen to some Cubs games sometimes just to check in with JD and I have to say, he is nowhere near what he was with the Astros in his prime, at least from what I've heard. It's a shame fucknose broke up that tremendous double play combo.

By the way, when the hell's Blum coming back? Although I'm sure Kalas is enjoying the time off Stanton is giving him.

I actually think Charley Steiner is pretty good.  He's not Scully, but he's not bad at all.

You can also listen the Dodgers en Espanol and here the sounds of Jaime Jarrin, now in his 59th season behind the mic, longest tenure of any active broadcaster.

Scoring from second on a wild pitch is not something you see every day.

We saw it last year in Cleveland on the foul ball that Jim Joyce monumentally fucked up.

Kike Hernandez scores the winning run (after drawing an impressive walk) making  Josh Fields a winner tonight in LA. Somehow the Astros fuck over the CoArds without even trying.

I leave you with this guy turning it up to 11:

By the way, when the hell's Blum coming back? Although I'm sure Kalas is enjoying the time off Stanton is giving him.

Kalas said on the broadcast last night that this was a scheduled series off for Blum and that he'll be back when the Orioles get to town.

I actually think Charley Steiner is pretty good.  He's not Scully, but he's not bad at all.

You can also listen the Dodgers en Espanol and here the sounds of Jaime Jarrin, now in his 59th season behind the mic, longest tenure of any active broadcaster.

I like Steiner.

Initially I did not care for Blum's work. Then I realized he got a lot better without Ashby's influence.

I listen to some Cubs games sometimes just to check in with JD and I have to say, he is nowhere near what he was with the Astros in his prime, at least from what I've heard. It's a shame fucknose broke up that tremendous double play combo.

The Cubs TV combo is the best in the business as far as I'm concerned. The Mets trio is a close second. On radio I have a special place in my heart for the Indians team, the Blue Jays', and the Giants'. But Ford and Sparks are really wonderful.

The Cubs TV broadcast is awful. JD is so watered down and bland now, that broadcast is about as entertaining as wet cardboard.

I really find myself feeling the same way and it pains me to draw that conclusion. But, then again, it is the Cubs.

The game is entertainment. The guys commenting on it are just guys I'm watching the game with. I don't want to watch a game with someone who is constantly telling me how great the team I'm watching is, describing to me every pitch and foul ball, and making asinine jokes endlessly received with polite laughter.

I recognize I seem to be in the minority here, but I prefer JD now that he isn't just tickling Bill Brown every inning.

JD's humor was intellectual and often subtle. He may have "tickled" Bill Brown, but most people here also appreciated his wit and his intelligence. His often humorous comments did not ignore or detract from the game as Ashby's inane prattling did.He was not a homer, and neither is the current broadcast team. Lowell Passe was an insufferable homer.

If the Cubs have transformed him into bland, FTC.
Often wrong, but never in doubt.

My comments were directed at the recent iterations of Kalas and Blum and Ashby and Brown. I've always appreciated JD's sense of humor--that's the main reason I still like him.

I watch most games without sound and have music or something else with sound on, two screens is handy.
