Paging Ms. Minnelli...

I am disappointed to hear that the Astros are about to go on a 99 game loosing streak.

"Keuchel takes the mound Thursday night when Houston (23-110) begins a four-game series with the New York Yankees (21-10) at Yankee Stadium"

Another trenchant comment by a jealous lesser intellect.

I knew all this bullshit about the Astros winning most of their games was fake news.

I was hoping that Monday’s off-game would grant us a Fiers-free series, but I guess they can’t hide him in the dugout forever.

Loved this.

Fiers vs Judge. Any scene from The Natural could happen. I lean towards actually knocking the cover off the ball.

I have hated the Yankees so much for so long that it's hard to remember when I didn't hate them, I guess I always have.  At least going back to when Steinbrenner first owned them, they were always the team that bought their championships. The team with all the history and money in the largest media market, blah, blah, blah. What really drove me crazy was running across Oklahomans and Texans that were Yankee fans. And there has been many. WTF?!?!?

But suddenly I realize I don't hate them nearly as vehemently as I use to. I actually respect the rebuilding-on-the-run that they have done a lot more than the total tear down the Astros undertook. Thier current team is a bunch of young guys, a couple of season vets, good starters and relievers. In some ways they are similar to the Astros. Of course, I'm sure their payroll is still very high and I still hate them, but just not the same or as much.

It helps that they haven't won 12 World Series games in a row, doesn't it?

So game #1 comes on at 1 CT on RSSW and game #2 at 7:30 CT on ESPN, correct?

I realize I don't really hate the Yankees but the broadcast and fans are another issue.  The way they were talking about the Yankees just being able to sign Bryce Harper and have him becoming a Yankee was disgusting.

Don't worry Jim.  My hatred for the Yankees has grown exponentially over the past several years.

And watching the Yankees/Jeter lovefest over the past few days just makes my head want to explode.

Jeter was a fine player.  But he was never the best player in the league or even the best player on his own team.  From the last few days, you would think that he was Babe Ruth's equal.  I read one tweet yesterday that pretty much sums up my feelings:

"Jeter only led the league in a meaningful category 3x. Runs once, hits 2x. You know who else led the league in hits 2x? Juan Pierre."

Brilliant!
Boom!

I thought the Yankees were fairly evenhanded with his plaque;

That's pretty funny.  But funnier is the fact that the picture on the plaque looks nothing like Jeter.

All you need to do is listen to the forgone conclusion that Correa will be playing in pinstripes in 2019  that was delivered during last night's broadcast.  That'll be enough to reignite the hatred.

Correa isn't a FA until 2022
There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.

Not just Correa.  In a couple of years, the Yankees will have Correa, Harper, and Machado.
