So. Bregman for a starting pitcher?
They missed the boat on getting a legit pitcher in return for Bregman.
That's what I was afraid of. Truth be told, I was against it at the time anyway.
Y'all are giving up on Bregman already, huh?
Fiers...9hrs in 20 innings
Make that 10...
Strawman.Would you give up a #2 starter for him right now?
I think the White Sox would happily give up Jose Quintana in a package headlined by Bregman right now.
If fires weren't an Astro, I'd be commenting on that goofy tattoo.
Take the goggles off and you can see, Yuli.
I just hope that he didn't get "fiers" tattooed on his right arm because he thinks its homophone is a metaphor for his fastball. He would be sadly mistaken. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
What did he do wrong? It was a great play to keep that ball from going into RF.
I'd rather see Chris Holt make a comeback than more Fiers. Is there a support group for this?Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
And you think Quintana's performance would be a significant upgrade from Fiers's?
I have no idea. I assume the Astros scouts/computers/whatever have a much better idea. Just pointing out that the guy that was rumored all damn winter to be an Astros trade target that they refused to trade Bregman (among others) for, has also gotten off to a slow start. In both their cases, it's one month. Fiers, on the other hand, I'm ready to give up on. I was ready last summer.
What about Peacock with another shot. Or do we not fix what ain't broke?
Hell, anybody, I'd settle for Dave Dravecky.
Quintana has a 5 year resume that Bregman doesn't, though.
But wait until we get to their bullpen!
At this rate, that appears unlikely.
Can't wait for McHugh to get back so they will do literally anything else with Fiers.
I remember when Dave Ward started. Eyewitness New with Dan Ammerman.
you could throw in Fiers.
I can't believe that in all of the Astros organization there is not a better option every fifth day.
That's your #3 starter you're talking about there...
Isn't Fiers the #5?
I remember before he was on Eyewitness News he did the Houston local version of Dialing for Dollars.
I think we have entered the "sorry, Mike... gotta save the pen for games we can win" portion of the evening. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Keuchel, McCullers and now Fiers, right?
The rainout scrambled the order a little. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Of course. Quintana has been incredibly consistent year to year and is a much surer thing, IF he's healthy. But I wouldn't bet against Bregman getting it together. He's been a top player in high school, college, the minors, and as a rookie last year.
Bregman will be fine. I'm not sure where this crap is coming from.
Again, it was more a statement about Fiers.. not Bregman. That's where the crap was coming from.
Rodgers should be out of surgery now. Making him a better option than Fiers. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
He can pitch with his left arm and be a better option.
Altuve just took one of the worst 2-0 swings I've ever seen. And then same on 2-1.
I can't conceive of a league batting champion turning in an at bat that horrible under any circumstance.
Didn't Shoeless Joe Jackson win any batting titles? That's one circumstance I can imagine.
Bregman and McCullers should go in on having a case of Vagisil delivered to the Rangers clubhouse.
I think he was always second to Cobb in his best years.
Dyson getting well in a hurry against the "heart" of the order.
Shit, you're right. Batted 4-fucking-08 in 1911 and finished 2nd to Cobb's .420, ain't that some shit?
A little girl on girl action in the stands?
Did Deshields shrink this offseason?
They were saying last night that he lost something like 15 lbs.
Angelica Huston is that hard up for money?
I'd rather we sweep them and then make it a case of Astroglide Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
That's just flat-out weird.
Haven't read the board yet. Is it just me or does Brownie sound like he is loving this? I know it's a sad situation but he sounds great.
What was the business with the stuffed animal at the end? Did I miss something, or was it just strange?
Why waste Reddick there? You know they were going to bring in a lefty. Why would you do that to him?
I would have taken my chances with Jake Sent from my SM-G930T using Tapatalk
Now I've seen it again. It was just strange.
Rangers didn't seem overly concerned with allowing Correa to represent the go ahead run. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

They may have to leave Julia in that train.
Logged in to search for this...why is Brownie on, and what is the "sad situation"? I came in late to the game and can't find anything online.

Somebody might get drilled soon.
I know my wife is, amirite???
Bobby Dynamite just got a HUGE erection!
The Ump's hand pausing Marwin was pretty cool. Hold, hold, you go now.
This team is ridiculous. I turned it on when they were down 5-0, and thought, "Eh, let's see what happens." That is not normal.
Good thing we got that extra run after the grand slam.
Gregerson can't have much more leeway. 11 innings, 5 walks, 3 HRs, 13 hits...
Between him and Fiers, that's a home run throwing machine.
Fiers did his job. He kept the game within reach.
Gattis is scaring the shit out of me with those backhand stabs at the low pitches.
Me too Sent from my SM-G930T using Tapatalk
Ponche!!!!Well that was an adventure
It's going to take a while to wind down...
And why the fuck was Gomez not running on that K?
What would have happened if the runner had scored? I thought he was moving back to allow the runner from third?
It was because they didn't complete the strike-out. It didn't have to be.
My question:Gattis did not grab the ball and tag Gomez. The last out was Gattis taggin the base runner. If he had touched home before Gattis tags Gomez, does it count?
No shit. I have to go to work in 6 hours and I need a drink!
It's just like any other situation with a runner coming home while the third out is about to be made at first, I believe.
Not if they put Gomez out before he reaches 1B. So if Gattis tags him or the throw to 1B to complete the strike out, game over no matter when the runner crossed the plate.
Ok, thanks. I have never seen that play before, and it made me unsure. No different than a ground ball to SS with a runner crossing the plate before the out is made. Gattis scared the crap out of me with the backhand stab because you KNEW Gomez was going to get sliders in the dirt.
I've seen it where the catcher tries to tag the runner instead of the batter. I remember Benito Santiago doing it against the Astros many years ago. Bases were loaded, full count so runners moving... third strike in the dirt which Santiago blocked. But he grabbed the ball and panicked. He tried to tag the runner coming home, not realizing that he could throw to 1B or more simply, just step on home plate because it's a force. He missed and a run scored.Agree re: Gattis. He has a real issue reaching and not turning the mitt over and smothering. But I'll have to say he made a nice block on a real tough pitch that bounced in front of the plate. Balls that bounce that far out in front of you are a real bitch.
I was at Pinthouse enjoying a cold beer and watching the game. They have trivia on Tuesday nights. I yelled STAY FUCKING FAIR so loudly it stopped trivia for almost a minute when Marwin turned on that ball.
First.. wow what a win!As I'm catching up with what went down tonight I caught the post game interview with Bannister. First thing he brings up (and maybe I saw the wrong clip because this seems bizarre) is last night's pitch behind Napoli. He says clearly that it was "behind his head". No it wasn't. It was behind his butt/lower back. We can talk about what it means to throw behind someone but I'm not digging the rewriting of history so that he can make a bigger deal out of this than it is. He's going to make this much worse before it gets better.
Are you saying Banny (yes, that's what they call him in Rangerland and I use it because it is so insipid) was carping about the McCullers pitch after Tuesday's game? Is so that really got in their heads.
I went back to the MLB videos. Last night they must have had a Monday night interview stuck in with the Tuesday night videos. The interview is now about last night's game. Still, if BannyWanny insists that the pitch was behind Napoli's head when it wasn't, he's making things worse unnecessarily. .
In both games, it looked like Gomez was getting bad breaks on balls hit in his direction. He was breaking the wrong way or breaking late. He doesn't look like the same outfielder to me.
He wasn't that good an OFer in Houston either.
