In the league.  If you're going to be a douchebag troll, at least get it right.

Be interesting to see what they do in the void. They dealt a high % of their top prospects and we know the FA class is mediocre.

The idea that the Rangers are more talented than the Cubs is laughable.

The Happy household is all behind the Tribe. I like Francona too. The team was much better earlier in the season when it had Carlos Carrasco and Danny Salazar healthy. I fear that they may be a pitcher short.

They may be a horse or two short, but I like the way Francona manages the postseason.  Should be a good matchup with the Jays.

If someone could knock out the Cubs I'd be happy with any of the remaining teams winning the world series.

It is neat that, with the exception of the Giants, none of the other teams have won in decades, if ever.

I'd like to see the Indians and the Giants face off. Of course that would require an epic collapse by the Cubs at this point and that'd be such a shame...

This is at the fore of my mind. I've day dreamed about how the Cubs would snatch defeat from the jaws of victory, and it simply boggles the mind. However, the Cubs are pretty good.

I rise to the spirited defense of Bruce Bochy. I follow the Giants pretty closely, and their bully has been a train wreck all year. Simply put, Bochy and Righetti have no confidence in any of their relievers, and that feeling is justified. They really missed Jeremy Affeldt, who retired after last season. For my money, Bruce Bochy is the best skipper in baseball, and it's not even close.

I agree that Bochy is a good manager, and I agree that he had squat to work with.  When Lopez walked Rizzo to bring the tying run to the plate, they were toast.  But he overmanaged that inning.

The talking heads were all over Bochy about not bringing Moore back for the 9th.

Also, let's not forget that Crawford's two throwing errors cost them two unearned runs.

I'd be happy to see an Indians / Nats WS.

The rangers mean nothing to me. I can't even raise enough care to hate them.  They are kind of like a bumper that fell off a hooptie on the highway.  Just an inconsequential object to move around as you head to your destination.
Another trenchant comment by a jealous lesser intellect.

The Giants out-cubbing the cubs is a shocking turn of events.  Hopefully it's the BBGs just raising the stakes for the eventual cubbing.

I think it's time people came to terms with the fact that these aren't your father's Cubs.  They have smart people in charge and talent on the field.

The talking heads were all over Bochy about not bringing Moore back for the 9th.

And if he had left Moore in and things went south, nearly all of those same talking heads would be all over him for not bringing in his 9th inning closer in a save situation.

The problem with this is, things DID go south despite throwing every pitcher they had in the pen. I know their pen has been hot garbage, but throwing the next piece of garbage at them instead of trusting the reliable guys (like Romo) is just crazy. I'd rather lose with my best pitcher out there than with my 5th best pitcher because I burned my other 4 best then didn't trust them to get outs.

I'd have gone with Romo, win or lose.

Same. You could see the shock on Romo's face when he got pulled. He couldn't believe it either.

I'm not sure why he went away from Law so quickly.  I know he likes his R/R and L/L matchups, but Maddon wasn't going to let him do that.  By the time the winning run came to the plate, he was on his 5th best reliever, the bottom of a pretty sour barrel to start with.
The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

I think it's time people came to terms with the fact that these aren't your father's Cubs.  They have smart people in charge and talent on the field.

ESPN's profile of Theo in their magazine, of how his time in Boston really screwed with him and how it set him up to run things in Chicago, was fascinating.

My favorite part was his call to Bellichek after they won the 2004 series, asking how they should handle success

The answer he got? "You're fucked."

Theo reversing the two biggest curses (term used with large grain of salt) in baseball it would be truly an amazing accomplishment.  Winning the world series with two different franchises is amazing in and of itself, much less overthrowing a collective two hundred years of history in the process.

The cubs are set up for a long run of success and it's a small relief that the Astros no longer share a division with them.  But until they do that, they're still the cubs.

Or Little, Grady

That was a totally different situation. Pedro was clearly gassed and Little had multiple chances to pull him as that inning unraveled. He also had a very good bullpen.
