I can't believe how lucky these asshats are. Two seeing eye grounders that find hole and a soft liner landing on the chalk. All in the first inning off of Fister who has absolutely nothing going for him these days. 2-0 you-know-who.

I'd say that Fister is the most frustrating guy on the team, but there are so many options that I don't really know how to rank them.

What is left of the rotation is full of candidates.

Speaking of the rotation, it is going to be real interesting to see what Luhnow does with this in the off-season. They cannot compete with what he have seen w/o McCullers and Keuchel. And obviously it wasn't Keuchel at his best.

I had to start watching late. Just watched the two scoring replays. I wonder if Odor had even made it out of the box before being awards 2nd on that ground rule double.

I'm glad we got Gurreil. He can handle the bat.  Screaming line drive out to 3rd. If a Ranger hit that it would have found the hole or the LF line. Because they so good, you know.

B2:

Correa...works the count full...walks
Gurriel scorches a line drive right at 3B on the first pitch...almost took Beltre's head off, but it's just a loud out
Correa moves to 2B on a wild pitch
Gattis strikes out swinging, as he swings and jumps out of the way of a pitch that bounces in front of his feet
Marwin singles to CF, Correa scores
Castro grounds out into the shift...6-3

2-1 Rangers

Yeah, I don't know how they ever score a run with that top to bottom scrub lineup they have.

T3:

Desmond lines a hanging curve into CF for a single
Beltran...3-0...walks on four pitches...Desmond to 2B
Beltre flies out F8, Desmond tags and moves to 3B
Odor smokes a first pitch cookie to CF, Desmond scores, Beltran to 2B
Lucroy flies out F9
Moreland blisters a one hopper that lifts Altuve off his feet, but the Astros are just lucky and it ends the inning 4-3

3-1 Rangers

No. Brown asked him if he (Bateman) still lived in Houston. I bet they are both thinking about former catcher John Edwards who does still live in Houston and plays in some golf outings. The Bateman reference came up because Brown mentioned Gattis' 17 HRs as a catcher this year is a new club record for catchers topping Bateman's 16.

Gurriel singles to CF
Gurriel is caught stealing 2-4...by about 12 feet
Gattis, of course after the caught stealing, walks on the next pitch

That's it for Perez, Bush in...

Marwin grounds into a fielder's choice...Gattis out 3-6, but can't nip Marwin on the double play
Rasmus, pinch hitting for Castro...walks, Marwin to 2B
Kemp, pinch hitting for Marisnick...with a rule book double...Rangers skillfully make it bounce over the wall, Marwin scores, Rasmus has to stop at 3B
Springer...flailing wilding to his knees...takes strike two at his ankles...works the count full and is overmatched with a fastball

Astros make a ton of noise, but only get one run...3-2 Rangers

Those don't bother me as much as Springer doing his best Gomez impression does. Going to one knee while swinging is rediculous.

Gurriel.  And trying to move runners when you can't hit isn't indefensible.  I get the feeling it was supposed to be a hit and run, but something got screwed up.

Gurriel flies out F8
Gattis homers to LF
Marwin singles to RF against the shift
Rasmus...full count...strikes out swinging at a ball in the dirt, Marwin caught stealing 2-6...beat the throw but overslid the bag.  Hinch challenging, but replay is obvious

Captain Correa almost injured himself swinging at a pitch he couldn't have hit with a broom.

He may not even win the batting title - which would be a collapse on par with the 64 Phillies.

He is a special player, but IMO, he looks to press too much in key situations/periods.  He's made strides in many areas during his career and I hope this is next on the list.

I don't know about "annual".  Last year in Sept/Oct he hit .302 and slugged .566.  In 2014, he hit .367 and .520.  In 2013, it was .357 and .461.

Whatever it is, it's fucking scary.
If Altuve's September was a boxing match, the ref would have stopped it by now.
It's getting to the point where I'm starting to worry how this is going to affect him next season.

If we finally hear that he's been trying to play hurt all this time, I'll take that as good news. Because physical injuries are much easier to heal than mental ones...

Not much the one time he was there.  But I don't think that's evidence he performs poorly down the stretch year in and year out.

Which is what I was trying to answer.  He's been in a prolonged slump.  They happen, and it's unfortunate it's been down the stretch.  But it's not been a pattern for him in his brief career, and to respond to someone else's comment...I'm not particularly worried that it's somehow going to crush his spirit next season.

But it will effect his luckyness to wins above normal luck ratio.
