That's when the front clears (probably closer to 6, btw). Next cell is going to be close. If it misses to the south, they could have a 1.5 hour break in the rain before the next batch. If it hits, only a 45-60 minute break. I wonder how long it takes them to ready the field after a cell goes through.

That's the actual cold front moving thru. Don't know why they started early. A 6pm cold front passage was well advertised. Once it stops in the next few, it'll be done for the next few hours.

Dear Alan Ashby,

If you tell me one more time that the team is trying to win every day, I'm going to write a strongly worded letter to my congressman.

T2:

Correa walks
Gattis...naturally after the leadoff walk comes out hacking at the first pitch out of the zone and weakly bounces into 6-4-3 double play
Gurriel...major league debut...drills a single up the middle
Reed singles off the first baseman's glove, Gurriel to 2B
Marwin...takes two cookies right down the center to make it 0-2, then strikes out swinging at a pitch over his head

Three base runners, but don't really threaten...0-0

Hernandez reaches on an E5
Springer singles to RF, Hernandez to 3B
Bregman strikes out swinging
Altuve singles to LF, Hernandez scores, Springer to 2B
Correa lines one to RF, off of Davis's glove and rolls to the wall...Springer scores, Altuve scores...scored a double, though it should have been an E9
Gattis flies out F7
Gurriel grounds out 4-3

Ugly play by Davis in RF. He makes Tucker look like Marisnick.

Most interesting name I have come across lately is Hemi, a guy in Kalgoorlie last week.

How could that possibly be scored a hit? The official scorers have turned into a bunch of pantywaists.

Another bad play by Teoscar in CF... Amazing that we started the season with essentially 4 center fielders and now can't seem to put one on the field.

B5:

Hardy grounds out 6-3
Pena pops out F6
Reimold doubles to LF, as Marwin takes a curious route allowing the ball to roll to the wall
Jones singles to CF, Hernandez shows off his wet noodle, looping a lazy throw to the plate, missing the cutoff man, allowing Jones to move to 2B, though the Astros will challenge that Jones came off the bag on the popup slide...this should be an easy one...reversed...score it a single and an 8-2-6 putout.

4-2 Astros

Man, after all of the questionable out-of-the-path calls, that's a real screwjob for Marwin.

T8:

Bridwell...making his big league debut...in for the O's

Gattis strikes out swinging
Kemp...pinch hitting for Gurriel...lines out to CF
Marisnick homers to LF
Marwin bunts...catcher fields it, throws to 1B, and Marwin is called out for interference as the throw hits him in the back, even though he was right on top of the bag.  Terrible call.

5-2 Astros

Giles in to try to close it out...

Machado grounds out 5-3...another nice play by Bregman behind the bag
Trumbo...0-2...Giles throws a meatball right down the center of the plate...home run to CF
Schoop grounds out 5-3
Davis grounds to 1B...Marwin boots it...Altuve grabs it, tosses to Giles for what's now a 3-4-1 out...O's will challenge...call upheld...game over

Astros win 5-3

Nice work by Giles.

The game was supposed to be over before I woke up and we get a win, so double bonus.

First Astros series win in Baltimore.

Report:  Gurriel left the game with a hamstring injury.  I guess it was all that not playing defense.

I have colleagues from Perth.  I never realized how far away from everything it is, except Perth.  They say it's pretty.

Perth is an oasis in the middle of fucking nowhere Western Australia.  It's kind of like Midland that way.

Keuchel being interviewed postgame...bitching pretty hard about the O's withholding information on the weather, giving him only 30 minutes notice the game was going to start...the second rain delay...I think he kicked a puppy too.

He said he used it all as motivation.  If that's the case, we should piss him off before every start.

I wouldn't think anger would be a great tool for a soft-tossing pitcher that relies on location and guile.
I do believe the late Don Wilson was riled up when he threw a no-hitter against the Reds one day after Jim Maloney no-hit the Astros. Wilson remarked that the Reds were mocking his team. But Wilson was a hard-thrower.
