Prince Fielder retiring

Bad news for Astros. I assume that lets the Rangers off of the hook for millions of $$.

His contract went through 2020, and the AAV is roughly $24mm per.

If the Rangers get out of that horrible contract then the BBG's have something truly special in store for them somewhere down the line....

Translation please?

Not including money owed for the remainder of this season, there's $96MM owed on the remainder of Fielder's contract (4 years x $24MM average annual value). I believe the Rangers owe $72MM of that with the Tigers picking up the remainder.

Speaking of which, how's that Ian Kinsler fella doing?

Rosenthal just clarified that he is not filing retirement papers -  just confirming that he is no longer medically cleared to play. That will kick in insurance on his deal instead of giving up the guaranteed money.

I guess that contract is pocket change compared to the money they're extorting from the city for their new stadium.

That is not our problem.

According to Twitter, the Rangers will still be on the hook for $9M/yr.

That is not our problem.

If the Rangers have hundreds of millions of dollars of what amounts to added revenue due to a shady parking deal and are saving tens of millions on a bad contract and that translates in to their payroll then yes, it is our problem.

So this year marks the end of the careers for Ortiz, A-Rod, Texieria, Prince, possibly Ichiro.  Any other major players of the last 10-15 years?

There is no shade at that park or parking lot.

Appropriate since we're talking about a fat guy.
