Correa hits a bomb in the top of the first and now McHugh is already in a shitpool in the bottom.

Marisnick dickstomping didnt fucking help. No error, but an error.

He drifted on it rather than busting his ass to the spot. It would be more forgivable if he added any value whatsoever other than OF defense.

We were blazing right through the third until Papi hit a tater and loped around the bases slower than a turtle driving a electric cart around a Walmart. Through 3, still holding a lead 5-3 and a pace over 4 hours.

I just got back from running errands. Has McHugh been as bad as that hanging curve for the double to lead off B4?

McHugh doing his best to give back the lead.

It is not hard to see why the team has been so disappointing when you look at Keuchel and McHugh to date and the bottom half of the lineup.

If McHugh manages to get through the 6th with a lead, I'll consider it a small miracle.

If he doesn't I'll consider it a major lack of judgement from Hinch. There is really not much to suggest he is in command out there.
As I say that, two out now with runner on 2nd and Betts up.

Seems like thehitter would need to confirm the sign before they break. Maybe not enough time. Now Marisnick is up so the inning has, no doubt, gone to die.

No, pitcher trying to get it together after falling off the mound then plunking Correa. Then Correa gets nailed at 2nd on a great throw.

Bogerts grounds to Correa. Lead runner out.. hitter beats throw. Not a tailor-made DP, in the hole.

When they told Craig Biggio he had no coaching experience, he should have told them about him coaching his boys to the state championship. I'm surprised he has so few options.

I don't think Gomez could do any worse if he closed his eyes and swung.

I had a Little League coach that said "swing hard in case you hit it,"

Please, PAY someone to take Gomez. The Astros would be better served only carrying 24 guys on the roster than sending that twiddledick up there to flail and miss repeatedly.

Ashby is STILL hanging on to the  botched squeeze in the 8th. "There was no indication that Jason Castro was going to bunt." NO SHIT, SHERLOCK. THAT'S WHAT WOULD MAKE IT A MISSED SQUEEZE!

Yes, that was troublesome. Because it was near Hanley and he had a glove on his hand.

Ashby is the fucking pits. He just suggested that Marisnick perhaps should have risked making the out at 3rd in a tie game in the 10th with Altuve coming up based on the premise that Uehara might bounce a splitter.

In Ashby's defense, he probably realized that the Astros would be unable to get a hit to drive in a guy, so they were going to have to do it some other way.

I could buy that if it was the bottom of the order coming up. But Altuve?

So many stupid mistakes, so many dumb decisions, Carlos Gomez.

I'm beginning to think Hinch is part of the problem. He was great for a young team trying to find some respect but maybe not the guy for a team with expectations. I wonder if Biggio would give up that burger stand?

Hinch is lousy. He *just saw* the Red Sox pitch around Altuve. Papi has been smacking us up like Marvin Hagler and, still, he pitches to him with a base open and two outs. Four years of baseball hell, one decent year and now back to hell.

Hinch makes some head scratching decisions at times(continuing to trot Giles out in close games being number 1), but the problem is the players.  The Astros lineup falls off a cliff once you get past Rasmus right now, and Colby shouldn't be the cleanup man on a contender.  Marwin Gonzalez, while a nice utility player, should not be batting 5th for a contender either.

Combine that with a pitching staff that has allowed the 2nd most runs in the AL, and it's no shock they are where they are in the standings.

Hinch pitching to Ortiz was a cardinal sin. That guy shouldn't be permitted to beat you. But you're right, we're twin peaks of suck in our every day lineup after the top three and our starting pitching. Hitch can't do that.
