I imagine that Hinch is laying down the law. That between-innings bullshit like last night does but give the team a reputation as whiners and makes it more likely that future border-line calls go against you.

No Gomez. Any word why?

Hinch said that Gomez's struggles and the emotions of Saturday were a factor but that it was more about getting Marisnick going.

I think that's a little less than honest. He's had plenty of opportunity to bench Gomez.

Well, that was remarkable. A Mariner hit the ball to second base and for some incomprehensible reason Altuve was in the normal defensive position and he made the play.

Valbuena might not be the only guy buying himself more time...

That is a nice shade of pink. I can't tell if it's a Hot Pink or a Bright Pink, maybe it's a Mexican Pink.

Finally, Rasmus starting to learn a thing or two from Gomez.

Another thing, when Altuve was on first he stood there and watched three or four great pitches to run on, low sliders way off the plate, a fastball eight feet high, etc. He then decided to run on the single worst pitch to run on Iwakuma has thrown all inning, a heater belt high, yet he beat the throw by a step.

He is one of the three or four best hitters in baseball. What amazes me is that he had that shitty half season his first year in Seattle.

Ditto.  Hit everywhere.  He was popping up pitches he was hammering the first week.  Hitting coach at the majors seems less than useful.

He was fighting through several injuries that they weren't telling anybody about. He's a tremendous hitter, and it wouldn't bother me at all if they just started walking him. In 7 games against the Astros he's going to rack up more RBI than 25% of the guys in the league will have all year.

What amazes me if they keep throwing him shit he can hit out of the ballpark.

This crew's strikezones have been absolutely horrible. That strike 3 to Springer wasn't even that close.

A Springer who can't see sees better than the HPU.

It really gets boring to watch these fat, overpaid cocksuckers suck so much behind the plate.

As for Cano, the guy can hit anything out of the park. He is a total freak.

It really gets boring to watch these fat, overpaid cocksuckers suck so much behind the plate.

Seems likely that the clamor for outsourcing balls and strikes to the machines is going to get a lot worse this year. Home plate umpiring is either particularly awful or the increased prevalence of the K-Zone sensors is just calling more attention to it. Either way, it seems ludicrous that in a game where absolutely everything can be tracked to the nth degree, and where emphasis is switching however slowly to "getting it right", they can go on indefinitely tolerating such consistent error. I was struck, in that recently cited article about David Ortiz and the strike zone, by the fact that a game in which the umpire made (I think) 32 mistakes ranked as only the seventh worst called game of the year so far...in May!
