Injury Updates
« on: January 24, 2016, 01:52:52 pm »
Based on the Q&A session yesterday at FanFest with Quinten McCracken and Mike Elias, Jayne has estimated return dates on TJS rehabbers Kent Emanuel (mid-season), Kyle Smith (spring training) and Derick Velazquez (end of season) as well as Tommy Shirley and his mystery injury (May).

Article also covers other areas: draft philosophy, international scouting including Venezuela and Asia and pitchers who may help the big league club this season (McCracken's picks include Shirley, Jordan Jankowski and Chris Devenski).

TCB also has an article covering the same ground.

Why didn't Joe Musgrove pitch after Aug. 12 last season at Corpus? Hip displasia in right hip plus a labrum tear. Long rehab period if the surgery route was taken so opted for rest and strengthening instead. Tells Drellich it's now "manageable and improved".

Sloppy reporting again.

I got my first year under my belt, and it was injury, injury, injury," he said. "What's going on? I've never been through it before. It might have been the added throwing that we do (in the Astros organization), throwing programs every day, the bullpens every other day. It was a lot. Not used to it.

He didn't come to the Blue Jays until late July of his second year.  He was injured when he came over because he didn't pitch for Greeneville until almost mid August.

The (in the Astros organization) is just wrong.  It should say (in pro ball) or (in the Blue Jays organization).

On a side note, my 19 year old daughter has been diagnosed with a labrum tear in her hip and rehab didn't help her.  She will be having surgery in May and the rehab process is VERY extensive.  About a 12 week process minimum with no weight on the leg for the first 4 weeks.
Always ready to go to a game.

Presumably means he's soon to be activated:

Kent Emanuel ‏@KentEmanuel  May 25
Happy to make the move from Team Rehab to Team Rehabbed - UCL reconstruction rehabilitation program is now complete!

ETA:

Yes, apparently he'll start the Friday night game against NW Arkansas.

Thanks for the well wishes. She is 2 1/2 weeks post surgery. It appears that it was successful. She had a bony impingement that caused the tears. They were able to shave it down and repair the tears. She is handling limited mobility well. She goes back to the doc on the 7th to get the word on if she can ditch the crutches or not.
