On the first pitch of the game, Altuve with a bunt single.  On the second pitch, he's thrown out trying to steal 2B
The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

Damn, that's the second curve that Weaver has hung to Marisnick, and he's escaped with pop-ups both times.

Perez for Conger straight up would have been a bad deal.

B5:

Freese singles to LF
Hit and run...Aybar grounds to the spot Altuve vacated, single to RF for Aybar.  Freese to 3B.  Runners on the corner, nobody out
Giovatello with a tapper back to the mound, out 1-3.  Aybar to 2B, but Freese has to hold at 3B
Cron with a sac fly F9, both runners tag.  Freese scores, Aybar to 3B
Perez singles past a diving Villar, Aybar scores
Calhoun singles to LF, Perez to 2B
Trout pops out F4

But the Angels break the scoreless tie with two runs...lead 2-0

Hernandez out, with 2 out in the 8th, and a runner on 1B.  He did a good job.  Gave up six singles and didn't walk anyone.  Wish they could have gotten him some runs.
The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

B8:

Perez hits a liner to 3B, and Valbuena with a leaping stab to his backhand.  Put a blue star next to that one
Calhoun strikes out looking
Trout hit by pitch

Hinch out to the mound...that's it for Hernandez.  Josh Fields in for the Stros

Trout steals 2B, moves to 3B on a TE2, as the throw bounces and Altuve can't handle it
Pujols grounds out 4-3 to end the inning

Three outs left for the Astros...chasing a pair

T9:

Weaver trying for the CG shutout...

Gattis strikes out swinging
Rasmus flies out F8
Carter flies out F8

Astros go down whimpering 2-0

Well that was probably the worst offensive game of the year.  Astros never got past 1B.

Good game for Hernandez, but offense, except Altuve, can't hit 80 mph changeups.

CGSO by a guy who came into the game with an 0-4/6.25 record. What a pitiful effort.

Absolutely solid start for Carmonandez-I'll take it. It's a pity that the offense was so moribund and inept tonight against a hittable hurler who hung pitches all night to no avail.
