I suppose he's giving Gattis a day off to "clear his head," because I can't imagine he needs a rest from the rigors of DH'ing. And maybe he genuinely needs it, I dunno. It just seems a bit of an overreaction, perhaps, to be putting your SS at DH because he's hit 2 dingers already, and bench your DH because he's hitless in 4 games, replacing him with Marwin Gonzalez.(not that I don't love Marwin).
Gallardo having trouble getting the third out. Altuve and Springer get singles, Lowery walks to load 'em for Carter.
Who is streaming the game tonight and how is the quality? I lose the picture and have to re-open the window after about a minute and it is driving me nuts....
I had trouble the first inning and a half, but it's been stable since.
Wait. When Springer did his part on Beltre's Little League homer before, he wasn't charged with an error?
Ashby is really bugging me. Think I'll listen to the Rangers broadcast for an inning or so.
Enjoy your ears/anus bleeding.
Right now Tom Grieve is telling Joey Ramone stories, so it ain't too bad.
Grieve is just barely listenable. That sounds awful.
Runners and 3rd and 2nd with one out. They're still there 2 outs later.
Joey Ramone probably looks as good at the plate as Carter.
In case anyone is keeping score, I despise Alan Ashby.
Carter is terrible. Ash is terrible.
Ash immediately pinning that terrible effort on the throw shows he is largely unqualified to sit and watch the game for the purpose of analyzation.
I'd have to see another replay to say how catchable it was for Carter.
That's the first bad play Carter has made all week and the throw was low.
His footwork has been shaky on a lot of throws. It was inevitable. He also badly bobbled and kicked around a grounder recently but the batter loafed to first and was still out. But, I agree he's looked better than most expected, but he's still a defensive liability, imo.
I'll have to defend Carter here. Yes, that was a catchable throw, but Thatcher didn't make it easy on him by throwing a submarine tailing fastball low and outside from 60 away. You just make a nice, easy, accurate throw on that play, you're not trying to fool anyone or strike someone out. And Carter has been fine at 1B. He's not great, but he hasn't been a liability over there either.
That's my take too. Carter has just stunk it up at the plate.
You could actually make the case that all 3 errors last night were mis-charged. Marwin's throw to 3B was fine, Carmonandez was just in terrible position to take it (not to mention ill-advised to try for the play in the first place), and Rasmus' throw home was not bad at all - looked like Castro should've been able to handle it, and maybe even tag out the runner at home.
