Another solid day for Grossman 2 for 2 and a walk.  Singleton still slumping, 0 for his last 9 with 5 Ks

I'm going to go out on a limb here and predict that Singleton starts the season in Fresno.

Roberto Hernandez went 3 giving up 3 runs (1BB/1K). Alex White went 2 giving up 1 run (2BB/0K). Straily pitching bottom of the 6th.

I am not a Roberto Hernandez fan. Alex White's command still looks shaky. I really hope that Straily pitches well here.

Straily has made himself a mess here in the seventh, and the Pirates have plated three with only one out. 11-7 now.

Straily gets a break when the Pittsburgh third base coach sends the catcher home on a basehit, and Hoes throws him out. I'm not sure why the coach sent the catcher down four runs, other than it is Grapefruit League.

On a side note, Pirate broadcaster Greg Brown is in the booth, and he's referring to Chester Cheese.
The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

Astros pick up a pair on an error, ridiculous throw from LF and a wild pitch.  This game has gotten pretty sloppy.

And now on and on about the cough button. If I had to listen to the Pirates broadcasters every game I would blow my fucking brains out.

McCullers, Jr. on to pitch the eighth, up from minor league camp.

I was just watching a replay of this game on some channel that was carrying the Pittsburgh feed, so I got to see the Correa homer. It was a low outside pitch (probably a fastball), and he just kind of swung through it to right field, and the ball went out over the RF fence on a line. Effortless and powerful. The announcers commented on how, unlike somebody else's earlier wind-blown homer, Correa's ball was never really high enough to benefit from the wind and it still went further.

I don't know about that.  I thought mixing them with Ashby made them look good by comparison. I'm loving that the Astros will be on TV, but hating that it will be Ashby.

Oh, and Singleton's ABs looked fine to me. A hard hit ball and a terrible called strike three.

Yeah, Astros fans don't have a lot of room to talk smack about other teams' announcers.  We got the bottom of the barrel with Ashby.

I agree. I can't watch Ashby at all, and in my opinion, he's as bad as DoRay, but in a different way. However, he's the most annoying former player on the air. And that's saying something, because a lot of former players suck at broadcasting.

The Hawk is a lot worse than Ashby.

No one is "a lot" worse than Ashby.

I miss Bill Brown sometimes but am so grateful for radio feeds and ballpark sounds.

No, definitely Darling.  Maybe he doesn't always do the Mets games, but I've seen him on a few.  I can't handle him on MLBNetwork.  He's a smug James Woods - sounding yankee prick that thinks Matt Harvey is the second coming of himself.  Darling never put up half the season that was Harvey's 2013.  Oh, and he thinks MMP is a shit-hole.

I've got no opinion on Hernandez.

Weird. I lived in Long Island for a couple years and watched a lot of Mets games. They're often cringe-inducing but, for me, it's always because of Hernandez, who is almost comically self-centered (almost). Darling I've always found to be generous and humble and good at what he does.
