Spring Training started today
« on: March 05, 2015, 03:12:13 pm »
FYI.

The excitement of the upcoming season is really...

This is actually the first time I am really looking forward to the season since, 2009ish.  Really excited to be able to watch the games on TV and not some crappy internet stream.

Back to Spring training, is there no way to listen to live Spring Training games any longer?  790 isn't carrying the games, and the only internet option I can find is the monthly subscription on the MLB at Bat app.
There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.

I don't know, but the MLB At Bat app is worth $20 for the season.

Astros win 6-3 over the Phils.  Mchugh picked up where he left , Appel gets the win.  Springer 1 for 3

It really is a great deal.

Does any other league/sport in the world charge their fans to listen to preseason games?

Maybe this is 790's fault, but not sure why they wouldn't provide a free stream of the game.

Whatever, seems like since they finally have a product that isn't a complete joke, they might want to get the casual fan to pay attention.

I don't think it is 790's fault, I don't remember being able to stream the games ever.  Which isn't to say they weren't but I remember paying to listen to the games at my desk since there was no way I was going to get radio reception.

790 made the choice to not carry the ST games live over the air this year.

My apologies, I did not know that.  So, it made me go check the broadcast schedule.  http://houston.astros.mlb.com/schedule/broadcast/index.jsp?c_id=hou
Interesting that so many games are on delay.

I thought ST was free last year. Maybe not.

It really is a great deal.

I browse it nightly throughout the season.  It's great for random news stories, keeping up with fantasy, watching highlights, etc.  Easy to navigate, too.

If the Astros weren't blacked out on it I would use it even more.

Probably not a cost effective option for most people but you can of course listen live to all the Astros broadcasts on SiriusXM (both in your car and on your computer).

The game was not on SiriusXM, at least for me, the last two days.  Likewise, MLB Gameday has not worked.
The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

Odd. I don't think SiriusXM has any blackout restrictions and I listened to the feeds both days.

Wasn't on my feed.  Got the usual baseball talk discussions, but no game feed.

The MLB At Bat app is the best $20 you'll spend all year.

Wish Sirius/XM had both broadcasts home/away in the car.

From what I heard, all the weekend games will be carried live, the weekday games will all be delayed (because the Matt Thomas Show is apparently that important).
You may ask yourself, "How do I work this?"

The night of.  Or November.
