Springer strikes out too much for a two-hole hitter.  THIS IS A DISASTER

Indeed. He should bat either leadoff (for his OBP and stealing prowess) or ninth.

Really he should bat 6th or 7th, just to get used to major league pitching.  This will destroy his confidence.

Marc Krauss's current OPS+ is 9. Carter's is 35. Grossman's was 56.

Springer will be fine.

Oh he's not just responsible for batting second, but for everyone else not named Altuve in the lineup.  No pressure kid:

Quote
“Offensively, he’s been heating up the last week or so and we want to get a guy when he’s hot. Flip side of the equation is, we’ve got guys here that are really struggling offensively and we’re hoping he adds that spark to our offense and gets everybody going. We need to get [Jason] Castro, [Chris] Carter, [Matt] Dominguez – you name it — everybody needs to get going with the exception of maybe [Jose] Altuve. Even [Dexter] Fowler’s been off since he came back. What better way to get them going than to bring up the rookie that potentially could be a game-changer.”

It's Art Howe for some reason. Is he associated with the Astros these days?

It's Art Howe for some reason. Is he associated with the Astros these days?

He just said in an interview on the televised broadcast that he would tell Springer not to try to carry the team, and to remember that he's just one of nine guys.

They didn't say why Howe is here, only stating that we would now be hearing "from a manager's perspective."

I'm not sure I like the order of it but Fowler,Springer,Castro, Altuve doesn't suck...go Stroooooosssssss..... a springer walk-off would be a nice start to his career
Remember Jesus Alou being called out of the 1st base coaching box to pinch-hit a double vs. the Reds in '79 I think, to win a crucial game, and he patted Morgan on top of the head (ala Benny Hill w/the little bald guy) and Little Joe got pissed.....yeah,that was great.

That 2nd strike did not look near the strike zone.

The Astros got 2 on in the bottom of the 11th, but Alex Gordon made a nice catch on an Altuve fly ball to end it 6-4 Royals.

How often is the recap better than the game? Over/under for 2014 is at 83.

In the end, my dissolution with the game of baseball will not be a result of any loss of love for the game, rather from the realization that I can no longer bear the anger its supposed stewards cause to be built up in my soul. -Lee (01/08/2013)

Williams = Humber

Given time I expect him to pitch himself off the team. Probably sooner than later.

I didn't see the 10th last night, but based on what I have seen, Williams looks a lot better than Humber circa 2013.  I'd bet, barring injury, he sticks around.

Williams has had some good innings, so I wouldn't write him off yet.
