I seriously doubt that Koufax ever had 98.

I have no idea, but on this exact topic, the guys on MLB radio were talking about Koufax recently and one of the guys thought he hit high 90s often.

Harrell is all over creation.  All of these defensive shifts are killing the Astros.  Down 2-0.

Any chance the Zephyrs would let Bogusevic go? Put him in the Houston lineup and he would look like Stan Musial by comparison. For that matter, put him on the mound and he would look like Koufax.

If the Astros are playing straight up, the Jays don't score that inning.

Well, at least the Astros put a ball in play.  Going to the bottom of the 2nd 2-0 Jays, 5 Ks for the Astros.

This really isn't fair right now. That was a filthy pitch to strike out Villar. Six K's through three frames, and he's only thrown about 34 pitches.

Otherwise known as "good lawyerin'"...

Fwiw, E60 had a special on perfect games the other night, and the end scene had some kid who had thrown a perfect, perfect game (18 outs, 18 strikeouts)...

Some kid did that in the LLWS a few years ago, then they found out he was like 16 years old.

Castro with a hit!

Fowler goes to 3B on the hit to LCF.  Nice baserunning.

Well, it wasn't as clear as Joyce screwing the pooch on the perfect game, but it was a lot clearer than a lot of things that get challenged. I thought it was pretty apparent that the guy was safe. But I'm not complaining; it saved a run or two.

At first glance it looked obvious, but upon closer review, it was a pretty damn close.  It would have been hard to overturn.

There are just SO many holes in the bats.  They've *got* to find someone to start making contact.

Springer has to be called up soon with this outfield offensive production in its current state. My guess is maybe even in the next week after the KC series on April 17th.

Right, the guy striking out in 36% of his at-bats against AAA pitching is who we should expect to make contact against major league pitching.

that's the obvious criticism, and it's obviously warranted, but springer would still be preferable to guys that are not part of the organization's future plans and are also batting below .100.

This is a little obvious to all of us here but a teams' run production normally comes from their corner OFers, corner IFers (especially 1b) and DH where applicable. These are the spots in Houston with the biggest variance from the league average I am certain. That is a pretty serious void which makes me think this isn't going to be a quick fix.

It seems like there aren't many pitches this team sees they don't swing.  I'm surprised the strike out 29% strike out rate isn't higher.  Granted Chris Carter is doing his best to raise that average (48% 13ks in 27 ABs).

He really should change his name to Kris Karter.
