Brian McTaggart ‏@brianmctaggart

The Astros designated infielder Brett Wallace for assignment to make room for Jerome Williams.
There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.

Wallace sure looks like he should be a hitter.  He sure had plenty of chances.

I had plenty of optimism for him.  He may still make it, just probably not with the Astros.  Makes room for some guy from the minors though, right?

Sad, but he had some chances and failed to capitalize on them.

A little surprised.  Thought what he did in the second half would have earned him another chance.  But he's 27 with 1,100 plate appearances.  If you look at his body of work, I guess I can understand.

It's possible he can stay with, or return to, the Astros.  He's been DFA'd, which means they'll either trade him, waive him or release him.  If he clears waivers, they can outright him to the minors.  I don't imagine there are many suitors at this point.

That said, I too am disappointed that he didn't work out.  I really thought he had the tools, just needed to get over the hump.  Some humps are bigger than others, I guess.
The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

He looked good in July, but tailed off again in August and September:
July: .273/.325/.545
August: .239/.316/.500
Sept: .208/.276/.321

Dang.  Nice work. His 816 OPS was okay in August.  I think I pretty much drank myself into oblivion in September to cope with the Astros, Texans, and Longhorns.

He cleared, and will be a non-roster invitee.

And the Astros have officially replaced the Pirates as MLB's drip tray.

I am a little surprised the A's haven't made an offer for him. Damone just seems like their kind of guy.

He used to be A's property; Cards traded him for Matt Holliday (remember when Holliday played for the A's? I didn't). A's traded him to the Jays a year or so later, I'd guess, but I don't remember whom for.
