MLB Pipeline Top 100 Prospects

7 of the top 66 prospects plus Callis said via twitter that Santana ranked #100 on his own personal list.

Boston led all organizations with 9 prospects on the list while the Astros and Cubs were tied for 2nd with 7 apiece (if you like obsessing over such things, the above article says the Astros rank #1 overall because individually their 7 prospects are higher up on the list than the Red Sox 9 prospects).

From tweets, Correa could be/will be #1 next year if Buxton graduates from the list (the others ahead of Correa are expected to graduate). Rodon would be in the top 5 if he qualified, with Bradley having the only case for a higher ranking.

From the top tools list:

Fastest Runner: DDS (in the "running")
Strongest Arm: Correa (in the running)
Best Fastball: Folty (in the running)

MLB Pipeline (Callis & Mayo) just updated their Top 100 Prospect rankings taking into account the 2014 draft (among other things). The Astros had 6 players on the list:

  • #3 Correa
  • #46 Appel
  • #56 Santana
  • #65 Folty
  • #83 McCullers
  • #99 Feliz

Springer & Singleton obviously graduated from the preseason list, DDS dropped off, and Santana and Feliz climbed on. Appel, Folty and McCullers all dropped in their respective rankings (Correa climbed).

MLB Pipeline also published a new top Top 20 Prospect list for the Astros:

  • #4 Folty
  • #5 McCullers
  • #6 Feliz

  • #8 Ruiz

Buxton isn't graduating next year.  He's had a whole 69 at bats at high-A this year.

Yeah, that was written in January.  At the time, there was some sentiment that he could (likely) start at AA and reach the majors this season.  Obviously, that hasn't happened with injuries keeping him out.  With Buxton out, Bryant has taken over that spot for some.  Even though he'll end up missing half the season, Correa has moved up, passing up some guys who haven't graduated.

I've read a couple of places where he was being argued at #1.  Without the injury he may very well have cracked it for a few of the lists.  (sorry for the bad grammar)
