Come out, shocking no one except the Rooskies, that's what Brian Boitano'd do.

If you feel like staring into the yawning abyss that is internet comments, you could do worse than peruse the comments of this ESPN article about Obama naming gay people as official olympic delegates.

I don't know about penises or anuses, or too much about vaginas, but I like Brian Boitano, he is a good ice skater.

I consider myself pretty conservative in nature, but I really wonder when G&L's are going to realize that a vast majority of us don't really give a fuck if you are gay or straight.  I'm much more concerned on your ability to do your job (if I'm paying you to do something, including entertaining me as an athlete) and generally be a good person (especially if you're an acquaintance or friend).

I doubt they care very much if you give a shit or not. Surely you realize that this fellow's coming out is not about his seeking your approbation.

The comments to this Chron article about]http://blog.chron.com/ultimatetexans/2013/12/two-members-of-1993-oilers-were-gay-teammates-knew-didnt-care/?cmpid=hpts]Chron article about two of the '93 Oilers being gay are delightful as well.

A heavy dose of persecution complex ("you want equality, just shut up and be gay.....why does the media think the strait community wants to be constantly bombarded by this subject? We don't.") with the expected dash of illiteracy ("This is a HERESAY article for the "feel-good" gay movement going on these days.")

I can hear the music my teenage daughter is playing in the next room. I've signed off of two other boards I've followed for years. I see the disconnect in the news reported in other parts of the world vs. what we get here. More people feel qualified to comment on Duck Dynasty or a War on Christmas or on someone's job performance for which they have no qualification for rather than give the time for discussion of issues that matter. The future is a dark dead end. Go back.

The future is a dark dead end. Go back.

1.  The War on Christmas:  Put the más back in Christmás!  Put the No! back in Noel!

2.  Duck Dynasty:  I liked the first season when I watched it earlier this year, I got bored with the fourth season when I skipped over to watch some more.  It's now even more contrived, and not very entertaining.  You gotta do something to kick up the ratings.

3.  Someone's job performance:  I'm probably unqualified to say this, but the guy behind the counter at the coffee shop this morning told me they had no mocha muffins, brought me a blueberry scone, made me coffee, and made change all without mishap.  I thought he did an excellent job.

Now then, can we please get back to something that matters, like how to clean my newly acquired Astrodome chairs?  After all, this is all about me.

Disassemble them. Clean each part appropriately. Refurbish when necessary. Reassemble. Enjoy your closer bond with them.

Thanks.  That was exactly what I needed.  Guidance.

You gotta admit though, "put the más back in Christmás" was a pretty good line.  I came up with that all by myself.

People these days just want more sanitized crap.  Well life isn't squeaky clean, kids.  There is a mustiness to it that you can't just wipe away with one of your disposable cloths that you throw away into your form fitted trash can that some stranger comes by your house once a week to haul away.  There is a story carried on each scent that cannot be denied merely because it does not fit in to your prearranged, magazine approved, living room aroma profile.  Masking the authenticity of those chairs masks only the authenticity of human existence.  Embrace the rawness of life, Neil.  This shit is real.

Yes. I looked into the story some more last night and my conclusion is that he was indeed gay but the more lurid details surrounding the tragedy were most likely fabricated and then exaggerated.

A Friend Dies, and Oiler Kills Himself

Quote from: New York Times
Minutes after crashing his car on a freeway exit ramp and watching as his best friend was thrown to his death early today, Houston Oilers defensive tackle Jeff Alm took a shotgun from the car and killed himself, apparently in a fit of guilt or despair, the police said.
Courage is what it takes to stand up and speak; courage is also what it takes to sit down and listen.
