A&M - Bama
« on: September 09, 2013, 10:20:48 am »
My wife's due date is a week from today.  Fortunately, I've already discovered that our hospital has TVs in every room.  She'll understand.

CBS will be pointing one camera at Johnny all game.  The Tebowization is now complete.  I hate being in the middle of an ESPN self-perpetuating story cyclone.

BTHOA, y'all.

Bama's offense looks suspect.  The OL play has been rough, and they didn't even score at all last week.

And the Aggies just gave up 28 to SHSU and 31 to Rice.

Bama's OL is "suspect", but a hair above those two.

My 13 year old son greeted me this morning with - Auburn has a better record than Alabama right now.  First time in two years we have been able to say that.  I replied - only cause bama didn't play.

I think Auburn is better this year.  I'm rationalising based on WSU's win over the university of spoiled children.

I'm really pulling for Alabama and McCarron to have a statement game. I've got nothing against Sumlin; I actually like him. However, and I think that even Sumlin would admit this privately, his QB has gotten too big for his britches.

Last year I thought we'd need to get into the 40's to have a chance to win; I was wrong obviously. This year I think we will need to get into the 50's to even have a chance, as poorly as our defense has played.

We have two defensive starters coming off suspension this week, which is a problem in itself.

That's my general rule, but Manziel raises a certain special level of animus because I'm both confident and fearful that the kid will self-destruct on-field and really embarrass himself and a fine institution. He is a special talent, no question about that. And weren't you tickled pink this weekend with Florida dropping one to the Hurricanes? I was delighted. Driskell is a train wreck.

Fuck you.
The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

My disdain for Gator Region predates Muschump and even Tebowski.  It began with Doug Dickey's tenure in 1970.

I will never forget what Spurrier said about Tennessee when Peyton Manning played there. Florida always seemed to beat them, knocking them out of a big-time bowl bid and causing Spurrier to say "Tennessee put the UT in Citrus (a reference to the bowl game to which Tennessee would be relegated)."

He's a classic case of having made it almost to legal adulthood without ever being held accountable for his actions. He's such a talent on the field he's never been required to be a decent guy off the field.

I think he'll also be your classic Heisman winning QB that won't make it in the pros too, but that's down the road a while.

My wife is an LSU grad and my son is a Furman grad, while I spent my high school years in College Station ... so those are the two games on the Tiger schedule I care most about.  My son may make it on one of his cousin's tix to the Furman game.
