I am beset by many of the same questions that you are, but I can offer one piece of advice: stay the fuck away from Facebook. It may be great for young people (although I think its persistence will bring them grief in the long run), but for those of us with already-established relationships that function without it, it can only bring trouble.
I remember all the good times me 'n Miller enjoyed
Up and down the M1 in some luminous yo-yo toy
But the future has to change - and to change I've got to destroy
Oh look out Lennon here I come - land ahoy-hoy-hoy

Love, once thought dead, can be alive as a barely smoldering ember just waiting to be rekindled. I may write about that some day.

Do not despair, DS, better days are ahead, and they are coming like the tide.
Often wrong, but never in doubt.
