Grossmans catch
« on: August 15, 2013, 10:57:43 am »
If you haven't see it, last night's game saving catch over the wall, find it. It's pretty awesome. But thought Chris Davis asking to see the ball was was a little disrespectful. Like he couldn't believe an Astro could pull it off. The umps weren't asking to see it, why does Grossman owe Davis visual proof. Would've liked to seen him show Davis the finger.

This happened recently in another game.  IIRC, that batter (or maybe the ump) also wanted to see the ball.

I don't see it as disrespectful.  One day, someone will pull of the ol non-existent ball trick.

Anyways, hell of a clutch grab by Grossman, and another great one-run win.

You're WAY off base here. Nothing disrespectful about it. He was just in shock that the ball wasn't gone. Young thought he'd hit a game winning homer.

I didn't think it was disrespectful, just his way of acknowledging that was a great grab.

And judging by Grossman's grin as he shows Young the ball, I don't think he felt it was out of line either.

I'm just glad Young didn't punk the Astros yet again.

Yeah, I see it that way too after watching again.  Seems usually the player is so happy, he immediately pulls the ball out if his glove to show the world.  Grossman played it off like he was just doing his job.  Would of been a hell of a hidden ball trick, if he missed it and not gotten called on it.

"Show me the ball?" - Young

Grossman waits, savors the moment a bit, grins and holding the ball with his thumb and one finger shows Young the ball like he was showing him the Hope Diamond. Awesome-ness all around.
