One of the really nice things about being Series Preview editor is - for one thing - enjoying the consistently outstanding level of the literary contributions to the effort, all made by (I presume) regular fucks like myself, who only ever write as an avocation ... either for the sheer joy of it, or because it is the only way to keep all the angst and bile and mental garbage from clogging up the veins and arteries and neural paths and shit.
Either way, we the readers are the beneficiaries. We have introduced some new blood into the preview-writing environs this season, in the form of guest previewers, and I for one am very pleased with the results.
This week, our guest previewer is a long-time participant/poster in the TZ and Game Zone, but has (as far as I know) not contributed to the literary side of things here, before now. She is an academic and a suburban mom, from the Houston area and a long-time Astros die-hard. She is literate and funny, can pull off the intellectual bit by day, and the soccer mom thing after work; can be the demure north Metroplex suburban mom, or can - at times - cuss like Marianne Faithfull or somebody. And, oh yeah, she looks a lot like
Dana Delany ... or, how Dana Delany would look if she had a husband and multiple kids and held down a job plus ran the household; plus, if Crane & Co. would just fucking let her, watched the Astros game on the TV every night.
