Ok, I'll admit it: I want to see some baseball, so I'm watching the Rangers. Anyway, they're having some poll about what you want on your hot dog, and one of their options is "Boomstick", which is apparently some monstrosity that they serve at their park. Then they panned to the Boomstick booth with its price list, and a fucking Boomstick is $26! So is some sausage thing. A Mini-Boomstick is $9.50! Holy crap.

I see that the Astros are now behind 2-1, and I see that the run scored from 3rd on a double-play that ended the inning. Was the back end of the DP a rundown or something?

bases loaded
ball hit between 1st and 2nd.
altuve gets it, can almost tag the runner at first but throws the ball to first for the out.
the runner who was on first gets caught in a rundown
crisp scored from 3rd
runner at first tagged out
runner on second crossed the plate - did not count

or you can follow gameday
Brandon Moss grounds into a double play, second baseman Jose Altuve to first baseman Brett Wallace to shortstop Jonathan Villar to second baseman Jose Altuve. Coco Crisp scores. Josh Donaldson out at 2nd.

I like Barnes a lot. He probably doesn't hit enough to be a starter on a real team, but I think he would defininitely be useful as a fourth outfielder.

I think he's a decent defensive outfielder. He started fast, but by the time he was injured he was down to .234/.289/.390. On this team that might be considered "hot", but probably not anywhere else.

And of course Maxwell works a walk after a good AB. My plan is coming to fruition.

Someone needs to explain the plan to Domingo...

Loved that they let the kid battle out that inning.  Hell of a job by Cosart, again!

Middle 7: OAK 2, HOU 2.

Time to go get him another 'W' now!

A tidbit on Cosart's two starts (via Twitter):

Adam Wexler ‏@awexler
2 MLB starts for @JarredCosart: 15IP, 2R, 1ER, 9H, 6 BB, 6K (0.60 ERA, .188Bavg against). Both vs likely playoff teams (TB, OAK).

Unsurprisingly, the Astros bullpen managed another implosion.  Surprisingly thought, they didn't manage to tag the starter with the loss...

After a 2-run jack off Cisnero, the A's lead by 2.  Middle 8: OAK 4, HOU 2

HOU was already carrying a short bench (had an extra pitcher). I have to think they'll need to call up an OF for tomorrow's game (if they can get anyone to the day game in time that is).

And here you go folks, the walk-off... LINK

Jonathan Villar had an interesting time running to home on that play. He sees the face mask of the catcher laying in his path, decides for a second he's going to avoid it and then thinks better of it and just keeps coming in the path he knows is the quickest to the plate. Meaning, he slides head first towards home right on the same path as the face mask. Ouch! He basically slide home, touched home plate and had a face mask in his midsection sliding along with him.

That was amazing to see, but not something you want to have happen to a young talent like Villar. Alls well that ends well!
