More wine...
« on: June 01, 2013, 06:57:21 pm »
We should have a dedicated thread or board for this....

Fuedo Principi di Butera Nero D'Avola

From Sicily.  Excellent.  Rich and velvety on the palate.  Goes really well with Mrs. Hawk's fresh pasta and gravy.  And homemade bread.  Check it out.
The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

Scout's Honor, 2011 - bold red blend, primarily zinfandel, strong tobacco finish.
I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing AstroTurf and the designated hitter. I believe in the sweet spot, soft-core pornography, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve and I believe in long, slow, deep, torture of Bud Selig.

I've been enjoying a Louis Jadot pouilly-fuisse this afternoon. Cool and crisp and tart.  It's my go to summer afternoon wine.

I know it ain't wine but I enjoyed a couple of pints of cask conditioned St. Arnold's Endeaver Imperial IPA at Bangers yesterday.  Went great with the brat and kraut.

I too enjoy the taste of a good Chardonnay on a warm summer evening.  I typically drink Chards from California, as they're reasonably priced, and one of the few wines from California that don't taste like charcoal.  La Crema Chardonnay is my go-to...what I call a "Tuesday-night wine".  Huntington makes a good sittin-on-the-porch Chard, and I also like Chateau St. Michelle from Washington, thought it's not nearly as buttery and smooth as the La Crema.

I'm struggling with "bold" reds.  I want to like them, I really do, it's just that I prefer "subtle", "smooth" and "rich".  When it gets too spicy and oaky, it just sort of crawls down my throat.

La Crema is one of the few whites I like. #noracist
