Public Service Announcement: On a whim, I picked up a sixer of Alaskan Brewing Co's Freewheel APA (American Pale Ale). Very nice. I don't have a Sierra Nevada next to me for a comparison, but it reminds me of that. Hops, but not over-the-top like so many brewers are doing today.

Later this evening I shall be trying out some Belgian-style offerings from Adelbert's Brewery here in Austin, one a black ale and the other a saison.

I've enjoyed the few Adelbert's beers I've had. I'm hoping to hit the brewery sometime soon.

I fully expected to see the Astros with back-to-back strikeouts (Carter, Pena) to end the bases loaded threat in T1.  Does that make me a bad person? Eternal pessimist?  [Answer: realist].

End 1: HOU 0, PIT1 (PIT's run came on back-to-back 2-out doubles).

They had the live look in on MLB.  Both looked completely over-matched.

Didn't get to see Carter's exploits in right.  Could/should he have gloved it?

Looked like McCutcheon just hit a laser.  Faster RF'er might've gotten to it, but didn't think Carter was an issue (though I am only paying half attention).

ETA: I was responding about McCutcheon's 2B hit in T1 today.  His error last night fueling the rally by the Pirates? Little League...

Depends on whether I find the game on TV somewhere.

I'm trying the Edelbert Black Rhino right now. Definite coffee flavors in there.

At least 'a' break.  Pirates fielding screw up, followed by an 'in effect' sac bunt, Crowe walk, and Altuve hard hit screamer off the body of 3B Inge tie it up 1-1.

Middle 5: HOU 1, PIT 1

Another sweet 4-6 by Altuve (ended up 4-6-3 DP) helps keep the 'Roots off the board in B5.

End 5: HOU 1, PIT 1

Carter leads up T6 with a ripped single through the hole between 3B and SS, followed by a hard hit fly out to LF (1 out, runner on 1B).  Bedard has been very solid, but with his spot coming up in the order, Jose Cisnero is beginning to warm up.

Dmoinguez grounds into a 5-4-3 DP to end T6.

What I *didnt* see was the Astros holding PIT to only 1 that inning... Astros get blanked I the top of the 7th.

Middle 7: HOU 1, PIT 2

Edgar Gonzalez in for Bedard in B7.

Single and groundout to 1B leaves runners on 2B and 3B with 2 outs and a base open with McCutcheon coming up. Seriously, just walk him...

ETA: which they do after starting off 2-0 to him. Bases now juiced for Gabby Sanchez with 2 outs B7.

How shitty is this team? A relief pitcher hitting for himself in a tie game, in the ninth inning. And it makes sense. That's how shitty this team is.

Altuve grounds into a DP to end T10.

Middle 10: HOU 2, PIT 2

Going to have to turn over PBP, dinner time...

Cisnero stays in and retires the Pirates in order in the bottom half of the 10th. On to the 11th inning

After 10: Astros 2 Pirates 2

Morris stays in to pitch the 11th for the Pirates. Castro hits a lead off double, off the CF wall. About a foot shy of a HR.

Dominguez hit a grounder to Walker at 2nd who threw the ball home and Martin was unable to tag out Castro. Hurdle argues, Bucknor tosses Hurdle, replay looks like CB made the correct call.

J.D. Martinez with a pinch hit single scoring Dominguez. Gonzalez is subsequently caught in a run down between 2nd and 3rd to end the inning.

Mercer flies out to RF. Veras gets his 6th save. Cisnero with the win. Cisnero was really good tonight and justified Porter leaving him in to bat for himself.

Good to see Veras come back strong. He looked shell shocked after his last outing.

Miami back in worst.  I'm no longer convinced the Stros can pull off 3 in a row.

I was going to post "of course they can. The Astros don't have Giancarlo Stanton" but then I looked at Miami's roster. Wow. They have a really atrocious cast around him. That said, he's missed half their games and they are still just one game worse. And they might have better reinforcements on the way.

Watched Cisnero's innings on mlbtv.  Nice to see a both a plan and an executed one where they maximize his abilities. Very impressive.
