I wonder why Barnes isn't getting more plaing time. He is hitting 60 points higher than Grossman against right handed pitchers.

Porter addressed this directly. He said that J.D. Martinez, Grossman and Paredes are getting the playing time to see what they have with those players at the big league level. I guess that they know that Barnes can play but see those three as having higher ceilings.

Paredes took a very strange route to the baseball on the second out in the first inning. It appears that those of you who have seen him play in the minor leagues are right about his best position being DH.

Man, this Tigers series has completely passed me by.  I've been unaware of the first 8 innings of the last two games, and didn't realize they even played on Monday until late yesterday afternoon.

This is your Astros.

But it goes in the books as an out and a win. Pound Budweisers, folks. We salvaged a game in this series. Now on to Pittsburgh.

I wonder if the crowd there screamed like little girls at a Taylor Swift concert?  You know, like Rangers fans do when a ball is hit in the air.

Sphinx eloquently reflects.

Yeah.  Winning just feels better when it's doled out sparingly.

And holy shit, the Tigers packed in over 40K for a middle of the week day game against the worst team in baseball?  Impressive.  I didn't even realize there were that many people left in Detroit.

There's security in the stadium, so it's probably the safest place in town to hang out.

The difference between the city of Detroit and its adjacent suburbs is quite striking. Have a look on google maps. Go into Detroit a block or two from the street that serves as the city line. You'll see one or two houses per block, usually uninhabited. Then go the other direction a couple of blocks into the suburbs. It's freaking Mayberry over there, just a completely normal looking place.
