Chris Volstad must be feeling as optimistic as he's felt in a while about improving to 1-8 on the year.

I'm listening to the Cubs broadcasters, I forgot what a dick Moreland is.

I tried to listen to DoRay. Raymond fucks up the lineup and announces Altuve leading off instead of Greene, he  laughs it off (ha ha ha good one, funny huh), then when Altuve batting second, gets a hit, the expert commentary by Dolan comments on how Raymond was, "just wanting to see Altuve hit", Raymond follows up with, "I knew he should be batting lead off...laugh laugh" These fucking guys together are ten times worse than they are apart. I think it was Sparks who worked the middle innings Sunday with Dolan, it was 10 times better than DoRay.

While DoRay are probably talking about guys with funny names like Smardzija, Moreland was commenting on how the Cubs batters need to be stepping out more and try to disrupt Harrell's pace.

When I saw that hit, I was reminded of the 1977 hit by Johnny Mathis and Deneice Williams, Too Much, Too Little, Too Late. I predict that this'll be it absent looking rejuvenated during spring training.

F-Mart's swing looks better than it did the other day.

Yep. His bat looks quicker this time up. Must have been the concussion.

No.

We've got a number of innings yet and thus considerable opportunity for epic slapdickery but the idea of a crowd of drunk, wet Cubsfans trudging home glumly after taking an ass kicking from one of the worst teams in history does hold a certain appeal.

He's enthusiastic, he can hit a little, he runs well. But he also throws strikes, which damages the comparison some.

He's enthusiastic, he can hit a little, he runs well. But he also throws strikes, which damages the comparison some.

It's the enthusiasm thing.

I still don't understand how a pitcher with his stuff (94 mph with movement, good sinker) could be let go, granted he was 26 years old at the time.

I spent like a day or so there 8 years ago for work. Um... I can tell you that Gerald Ford was from there...

Wow, sounds like the place is quite impressive.

Wrap your heads around this one: without Lucas Harrell's record, the Astros are 29-71: .290 baseball.

Actually, the winters in Missoula weren't as bad as I expected.
Missoula is a great town, I would highly recommend Boise as well.

Doesn't Montana have a Democrat senator?  Shouldn't Mr. Happy be moving to Idaho.  Good fishing in Idaho, lousy winters.

Harrel reminds me a little of Backe.

Had that same conversation watching the game with my dad tonight, joking that we just hope that the similarities don't get too strong.

Damn. All this winning, and Brandon Backe talk really inspired/confused me. After all, 3 out of 5 is way better than 3 out of 30-whatever.

From what I've been told, I'd be moving right into the heart of enemy territory in Missoula, which is brazenly liberal, whereas most of the rest of the state is my kind of peeps. I'm used to living around the enemy, living in Napa and so close to over the top liberal Marin county.

I just recently made my first forays into Montana and Oregon and Washington if you count fly-through stops in the airport. I've been to South Dakota because I made a speech in Rapid City back in 2001. While in the Portland airport, I had the privilege of talking by phone with OSF.

I don't even have a passport. I've been to Mexico pre-911 twice. The only place overseas that I even have any willingness to risk life and limb travelling outside of the country is Italy to see Rome and Florence.

While I believe that when it's your time, it's your time, I believe that the security just is shaky elsewhere. That, combined with a simultaneous love of this country and lack of interest in seeing things outside of the country.

Actually, a now deceased federal judge who was a friend of mine was just like me-he neither had a passport nor ever traveled out of the country. Ironically, he died at the beach after having been stung by something in the water (not a jellyfish I don't think), but it's been a long time since it happened and I can't remember it. But I've been told that before, and you may well be correct.

I must be the anti-Happy.  I have just filled up all the extension pages in my passport and have to get a second set of extensions.  Am leaving this weekend for my 9th overseas trip of the year.

You really should make time to see Rome & Florence, though, Hap ... and I am not talking about heading north on 195.

Being a papal historian of sorts and a devotee of Dante, if I break down and get a passport, it'll be to go there.

I fully realize that my rationale isn't rational, but it is what it is. I'm just more comfortable and happier in the good ole US of A.

If you wanna go irrational, then pretend you're a Euro and you love visiting the good ol' U.S. of A. Might I recommend Disney World?

I'll see your Disney World and raise you just about any suburban mall in the country.
