For those of you who are not very familiar with the Tribe (I happen to be a little familiar with them since my far better half is a diehard member of the Tribe and we watch them when the Astros aren't on TV), their 2 (Asdrubal Cabrera), 3 (Jason Kipnis) & 4 (Carlos Santana) are better hitters than their stats say that they are, especially Cabrera. Keep an eye on Kipnis--he's a future all-star in my opinion. he also will swipe some bags for you.
Their leadoff hitter, Choo, is a pretty good hitter and has a cannon out in RF. Brantley is a plus CF and a punch 'n judy hitter who's not going to hurt you but he'll annoy you by getting dink doubles well placed in the gaps and he can run pretty well too. Johnny Damon is done. In my opinion, he's got nothing left. I keep expecting the club to release him any day. Plus he's got one of the worst arms in LF you'll ever see. But who is Acta's alternative-Shelly Duncan? Clark should send every body (except Snyder) on any ball hit to LF because Damon even has trouble getting the ball to the cutoff man-his arm has looked that bad-everyone else has been windmilling their base runners home on balls hit to LF. Casey Kotchman is, well, Casey Kotchman-decent glove guy but a real offense liability at 1B. This kid Chisenhall at 3B has a little pop in his bat, but he's not been up that long.
Jiminez, their series opener starter, has been lit up many times this season. He doesn't look like the same pitcher that he was in Colorado. I don't know what happened to him, but he's been pretty vulnerable so far this season. Thankfully, we miss their ace, Masterson, in this series-he's been very good so far. Derek Lowe has been hanging in there, but he's been popped around a bit lately. You never know what you're going to get with Gomez. He has okay stuff (he pitches to contact-not a big strikeout guy) but is just very inconsistent. They have a fairly solid bullpen. Their seventh inning guy (Joe Smith), eighth inning guy (Vinnie Pestano) and closer (Chris Perez) have been pretty consistently good, particularly Perez.
