Another terrible effort from the starter.

The little shit is troublesome also: Martinez lack of awareness that Stubbs would go for two and Altuve catching it early an having to swipe a bit instead of waiting and dropping. Turns out to cost an out and a run.

No, now his value is dropping and will less likely to be traded.  I think you missed the not

Altuve overthinks it sometimes.  2 outs, who cares if the runner gets to third

Road Wandy has shown up after a hiatus of awhile. The problem is that he's at home.

I'm having to listen to the audio, but he went to second to try and get Hanigan scrambling back, then went to first, rushed it and bounced it.  Downs unable to coral

Runner on second, one out. A grounder up the middle which he fields and then goes over to step on second base and by the time he throws to first, it is too late. Inexplicable.

I think that is a gracious description. I saw it as a complete brain fart. He didnt rush over to tag the runner, just went to step on the base.  Just like when he failed to cover last week. His mind was somewhere else.

Sorry, second hand through DoRay.  He did say he stepped on the bag, but assumed he would have tagged him

Just think how good they'd've done during that stretch had they had a system that was rated better than 27 of 30...

Saw that article on ESPN.  Got annoyed.

http://espn.go.com/mlb/draft/2012/story/_/id/7988586/houston-astros-first-year-general-manager-focused-job-ahead

Quote
In February, Law ranked Houston's farm system as the 27th best in the game. Baseball America was more charitable, ranking the Astros at 17th because of the prospects acquired in the Pence and Michael Bourn trades last summer.

This was kind of disturbing too:

Quote
"I hear other organizations say you need five to eight drafts to really turn things around,'' Luhnow said. "I feel like there's a lot of pressure to do it in one draft. That's not going to happen. But we are picking first, and this might be the last time we pick first, and there's an opportunity to pick the most elite talent in the country this year. Those opportunities don't come around too often.

Would have preferred Luhnow to say the farm isn't in that bad of shape

Did you throw it at the TV?  Another stupid misplay by an Astro. Lowrie this time.

Luhnow didn't talk about any particular current Astro. Just general stuff. He always sounds like a pretty level-headed guy. Let's hope ownership stays the fuck out of the way.

That's another reason I dropped down to 1 league this year.  In that one we all meet and draft live and the rosters are set WEEKLY.  Prevents both over- and under-managing...

Played one league, one year($25m league).  Will never play again.  Won the league easily, but the time that over management took was ridiculous.  No thanks, not enjoyable

That was unlucky that the missed throw didn't take a wacky bounce off the dugout. I don't blame Lowrie too much for that.

Robothal on Astros (Seriously, I can't make shit like this up...):  (MLBTR LINK)

With several hard-to-trade veterans on the roster in Wandy Rodriguez, Carlos Lee and Brett Myers, the Astros might be well advised to trade second baseman Jose Altuve as a means to replenish their farm system...

God I hate FoxSports/MLB, for blacking me out of my MLB.TV subscription because of a HOU-CIN game that I'm sure was not televised anywhere remotely near NY state, where I am...

I'm with you on that one... Blocked me out of a HOU-CIN game for a NY state team game (NYY-DET) which I am certain is nowhere near Portland, Oregon...

This got to replenish the system crap is getting old.   They already had 3 of the top 100 prospects coming into the season.  I imagine Folty has added himself to that list.  And whoever the Astros take at 1-1 will give them 5 of the top 100 prospects.  Every A level club is now 500 or over with at least 2 starters and 2 position players that are major league level intriguing.

And with 3 more wins tonight, the A level clubs are at 14-1 over the last 4 days
