Lyles is pitching for the Astros.

And say what you will about JDM's horrific slump right now and how lost he looks at the plate... but...  Cliff Lee has a lot of 'Stros looking that way today...  Middle 4: HOU 0, PHI 2

Lyles goes 0-2 on Mayberry. Nice bender on 0-2 pitch, but Mayberry gets a piece of it (as well as the high heat on the next pitch).  Takes the 1-2 pitch deep on the 3B line, CJ with a nice glove, but really no chance to get Mayberry.  B4, 2 out, runner on 1B.  Galvis at the dish.

Galvez walks on 4 pitches (odd for Lyles as he's had legit command so far).  2 outs, runners at 1B and 2B. Schneider at the dish (had 2-run HR earlier), Cliff Lee in the hole.

Juan Samuel's work at 3B in this series hasn't been good with two failed sends on short singles.

Yep, it seemed like a low probability send (though Cliff Lee was on deck at the time).

Oh, agreed, but it was a shallow single and Downs was on it in a hurry. Seemed a very low probability of success there though given the depth of the single, decent arm in Downs, etc...

he has to make a clean pickup and a good throw. with the pitcher up next and two outs, most anyone would send him and hope the throw is offline.

Had him right where he wanted him too 1-2 and had just tossed a high fastball to change his plane of vision. Then, meatball.

I understand that. Never having been a third base coach and never wanting a job that everybody in the yard thinks they can do better, I just thought that the single was a bit shallow to send him, just like the send yesterday on the single to LF, but it both cases, the pitcher was coming up next with two outs, so that explains it.

It was kind of a weird deal.  Castro didn't seem to realize he'd struck out (either thought he checked it or fouled it).  Marwin with a grounder to Cliff Lee for the 1-4-3 DP. 2 outs T8.  Buck in to pitch for Fernando.

Fucking umpires. Something's gotta be done.

You're right; the umpires think that people pay good money to get into the yard to see them. HOwever, with that said, was Manuel complaining that Davdson motioned for Castro to go to 1B?

I'm sure he was bitching that their catcher and Davidson got tangled up.

Davidson needs to stop worrying about what's happening in the dugouts and just figure out where the fuck the strikezone is.

Altuve flies out to the middle of the track in RF.  MIDDLE 8: HOU 1, PHI 3

Don't know if Cliff Lee will come in for the 9th or not, but if he doesn't it'd be exceptionally entertaining to watch Papelbon implode on the mound...

I saw several "you's" (which is the magic word that will get you run) coming out of Manuel's mouth. He was jhot and going to get his money's worth.

That was the only thing that it could be. Davidson has had a very pitcher friendly zone today for Lee especially.

If Davidson just keeps his eyes on the field and his ears out of the dugout, it doesn't matter.

Castro 2b, Martinez runs thru stop sign, then slams on brakes.

Apparently Clark is scared to death of Crazy Ivan.

Okay, this is weird.  Clark (VERY surprisingly) puts a stop sign up for Bogusevic.  Pence drops the ball and Bogusevic ends up going home to tie the game.  JD could've been caught up in a rundown, but no one to cover 1B.  T9, 2 outs, runner on 1B: HOU 3, PHI 3.
In the end, my dissolution with the game of baseball will not be a result of any loss of love for the game, rather from the realization that I can no longer bear the anger its supposed stewards cause to be built up in my soul. -Lee (01/08/2013)

Castro with a shot off the wall in RF (might've bounced, not sure - trying to describe the Bogusevic play), Martinez coming hard around 3B, but gets the stop sign (appropriately).  T9, 2 outs, runners at 2B and 3B.  New reliever coming in.

Basically what happened to Spaz is that he reached back to make the throw to home when he thought Bogusevic was going home and ust lost the handle.

That lefty looked pretty fucking tough, slinging that ball across his body at 95-96, followed by an 81  slider.

Some lefty in for PHI making his MLB debut against Marwin Gonzalez (name por favor Mr. moriartp?!?).  Has Marwin 0-2 now.  One of these two kids looks like an MLBer, and it ain't Marwin (so far). Fouls off the 0-2 pitch.  Lowrie in the hole.  Marwin takes a ball inside.  1-2.  Swings at absolute crap for the punchout.  UGLY.  MIDDLE 9: HOU 3, PHI 3

Deikman looks pretty darned good on the mound for PHI.  Nice lefty with some giddy-up and a deceptive delivery.  Lowries goes down 1-2 before flying out to Spaz (who gets a cheer from the PHI crown).  Mr. The Altuve (or f'in Altuve) at the plate.

Unless, I'm mistaken, the Extra Innings package is similar on all the cable and dish carriers. I think DirectTV has more HD games, but I don't know. I used to get EI with Verizon FIOS.

And there is a significant time delay with MLB.tv that annoys me.

Yes. And it is even worse when I stream the feed through my Roku player...  But the opportunity to hear JD and Brownie (every game sans LAD home games while Sculy is still calling 'em) more that makes up for the delay IMO!
In the end, my dissolution with the game of baseball will not be a result of any loss of love for the game, rather from the realization that I can no longer bear the anger its supposed stewards cause to be built up in my soul. -Lee (01/08/2013)
